Our Mini Carbide Turning Tools feature a replaceable and rotatable cutter that eliminates the hassle and downtime of sharpening. Simply rotate the carbide cutter for a fresh, sharp edge, and replace it once all available edges have grown dull. The solid carbide cutting edges stay sharper, longer when compared to steel. The handles are turned from fine, solid ash, and are ergonomic with molded rubber that enhances your grip and reduces fatigue. The tools are available in three cutting profiles: round, square and diamond-shaped.

Technical Details:
  • Total overall length of Mini Turning Tools is approximately 13-1/2''.
  • Diameter of the circular cutter is just under 1/2''.
  • Square cutter is 3/8'' square.
  • Overall length of the diamond cutter is 1-1/8''.
  • Angle of diamond cutter is approximately 35 degrees.
  • Ash handles are 9-1/2'' long from the butt of the handle to the top of the stainless steel ferrule.
  • Length of the shaft is approximately 4''.
  • Ash handles are coated with a soft, grippy rubber for a secure, effortless grip and excellent ergonomics.
  • Note: carbide cutters are not interchangeable between the different tools.

I am newer to turning and these were recommended to me at Rockler. First off these are amazing tools to work with, they cut great and are easy to work with. I have found I need a much lighter touch using them. All around great product.

Have now owned this set for a couple months now. The short shaft is great supplement to my set of longer tools. They work great for turning small items like pens or in my case adding details to spindles or small bowl work. These are still scrapers so even though they keep their edge longer they will still have the same problems as a standard scraper. They come with a PVC tubing protector on each of their ends that is very stiff, so I had to push off the tubing verses being able to pull it off. Care is needed when pushing this tube off so you don’t cut yourself! Even though I don’t mind sharpening I found that it is easy to remove the carbide cutters and with a couple of strokes the top surface only a fine diamond stone I was back to turning within a minute. I knowing that I will not have to sharpen again for quite some time. The unique handles with the small flat on the tool shaft are well made and help creating small details quickly.

By far the best tool purchase I've made in a long time. I find myself using these three tools the majority of the time. Not only do they cut extremely well & easy,they feel great. For the money you won't be dissapointed.

Purchased this because it was a little shorter than my other sets of carbide tools. Set is well made, the molded rubber grip makes handling the tools easier. The shafts on the tools are a little too small, they allow the tool to turn on the rest with the slighest rotation of the tool causing a loss of control over the tool. I have been using carbide tools for years and would rate these excellent, they would get a 5 in my book if it were not for the size and design if the shaft.

Cuts like butter...I already own a few of these carbide type tools, but do not have one with the diamond shape. It's the first one I tried from the box and I'm thinking it will be my new favorite. Interesting handle makes for a comfortable grip. Did I tell you I HATE sharpening.
