Installation took some trial and error. I had called the company to see if this would work for inset doors but it didn't look like there would be enough clearance for the arm plate on the door. Easy fix, I just cut a 1/4" piece that matched the shape of the mounting plate in the cabinet side, used longer screws and voila, was able to mount the arm plate with enough clearance. Also had to move the mounting plate further back (thickness of the inset door) than the instructions (which assume you have an overlay door). It was a little confusing where to mount the arm plate, so that was trial and error.

I'm very pleased with the mechanism. The door opens and closes very quietly and smoothly. With the learning curve out of the way to install this, I will definitely buy this again for other projects.

First, The item I recieved did not have an adjustment to control the speed.
Second, This unit is a control extend only. (I.E. Open lid slowly not close. Gravity close. No control.)
Nothing wrong with the product, just not what I thought it was.

Editor's note. This support is used for a drop front, not a box lid. Braking action is for the drop front as it drops downwards to the open postion. For a support for a box lid with braking action for a lid as is drops to a closed position use #69732

Product does not really have any way to adjust and it is very hard to figure out how to install. The directions are not very helpful.

If I had uderstood the directions a little better I would have saved some trial and error. Although the directions are straight forward I had trouble understanding them. After they were installed properly I am pleased as punch with the opperation. I get a lot of people who really like the way the drop down desk door floats down.

Unless you are a cryptographer or have a friend at NASA or who can decipher the installation instructions to this product, I HIGHLY recommend you consider another option.
