Salad Bowl Finish

Create a beautiful and safe finish on wooden bowls, cups, spoons, and countertops. Easy to apply - just wipe on with a soft clean rag. Achieves the sheen and resistance of a varnish. Dried film is non-toxic for food contact 72 hours after drying. Additional coats can be re-applied at any time if maintenance of item becomes necessary. For actively used butcher blocks that are used for chopping and cutting, only use Butcher Block Oil (Product #15950).

I applied according to directions: four applications six hours apart "sanding" with 0000 steel wool in between applications. Then I let it "cure" for 72 hours. I'm very pleased with the result and will use it on all of my bowls and trays that I am making. I used the General Finishes Salad Bowl Finish on these bowls

Unlike the wax/mineral oil mixes it actually gives you a durable shell finish that can withstand some light cutting and normal wear and tear. Also like the can states it is highly sawdust resistant, which is a huge benefit in a high-school workshop. My only reservation with it is that you need to do about 4-7 coats to make it really stand out.
