Safety Tips:
It's easy to prevent mishaps if you take a few simple precautions.
1) Rockler recommends using 1/2'' shank router bits whenever possible.
1/2'' shanks provide better stability with less vibration to produce a smoother
cut and longer cutter life.
2) Make multiple light passes rather than one heavy cut.
3) Install your router bit so that 90% of the shank is inside the
collet. Here's a rule of thumb: fully insert the bit, then pull it back
1/16 to 1/8 of an inch.
4) Use a router table whenever possible.
5) When using large diameter bits, reduce the RPM of your router.
Then test your set-up on scrap lumber.
6) Always follow your router manufacturer's recommendations. |

I recently purchased this product to make some wood frame windows for my brother's cabin. If you have used cope and stick joinery for making cabinet doors especially with the reversible type router bits, you won't have any trouble using this Sash and Door bit. It took some experimentation, but I was able to route accurate joints from scrap lumber and then use them as guide blocks for the set up when I was ready to route the window frames. I achieved nice, clean profiles by taking several, shallow passes on the Douglas Fir that I am using for this project. The joints fit tight and I reinforced the frames by cutting mortises for loose tenon joinery.
One note of caution, however - I was surprised to find out that after routing the rails and stiles and doing a dry assembly, the overall frame width had shrunk by 1/2 inch. Fortunately, I discovered this on my practice frame and resolved the issue by cutting my horizontal rails and extra 1/2 inch long before routing the next set...
Overall, a very good product. I would have rated it excellent had there been an instruction manual...

I had to make windows for a friend who owns a historical house. I was having a hard time finding a bit that would allow me to make the windows exactly like the original ones. My wife got on the web and found your company. The information and pictures showing the products you sell made it easy for me to find the right bit for the job. I was very impressed with your delivery time as well, I received the bit in 2 days. I completed the windows and they look awesome. Best regards.

This could be an excellent product with decent instructions. The only reference material there is is a 48 second video which is less than helpful. Not even a diagram to show the placement of the washers.
