Used this item for the first time today. Worked very well. I am building a 5-unit bookcase assembly for a home library that will have 25 adjustable shelves. I pushed 500 holes in about 2 1/2 hours. The matching drill bit worked flawlessly. Nice piece of equipment.

I purchased this jig through mail order and received it within 5 days included a weekend. I read the instructions fully and immediately put it to work. I was making 2 walls of book cases in the basement, and it worked great. Previously, I had made my own jig by using pegboard, which worked fine... to an extent. I have had no experience of cracking with my jig even after drilling 600+ holes. The only thing I will do next time, is either purchase a second jig to attach to it so that I can drill more holes before moving the jig, or else decide to drill a series of "sets" of holes along the board, which would require more measuring for begin placement of each set. Overall, this is a very good purchase, as well as the purchase I had made previously of other Rockler Jigs. Keep up the good work and as was stated before: thanks for keeping the price in my budget.

I do quite a bit of cabinetry work and was pleased with the JIG IT template. One thing that I was concerned about was whether to finish first and then drill the shelf support holes or the opposite. I ended up doing the finishing first, concerned about how stain would interact with the holes. My project involved some red oak shelves made of good quality vaneer plywood that were finished with satin polyurethane. Fortunately, I had some scrap pieces of the verticals that I finished expecting that I would need to experiment. At first, I was disappointed with how much splintering occured when I used the bit on the test piece, and of course, if I sanded this, I'd need to do more finishing. A trick I developed was to place a piece of 1/4" plywood under the template and over the finished vertical sections. Drilling through the 1/4" plywood and then into the finished shelf supports totally eliminated the splintering.

Novice woodworker. First project is a bookcase. Decided to use shelf pins but needed a way to align the pins correctly. The jig worked great, easy to use even for a novice. And the shelves look great.
