Ford, from Oxford, FL on 3/5/2010 Customer Rating: When I first seen this plan my father came to mind because he had collected all the quarters and could only display them in a book he bought. I had just bought a used Delta scrool saw and had never scroll sawed in my life. So I practiced on scrap wood then went at building it.The plans were great to follow and the piece came out just beautiful. I used the hint on different shades of stain which relly made it stand out. When I gave it to my dad he was so proud of it and showed it. Thank You Rockler staff from the bottom of my HEART. Your selection of items and prices can't be beat. I'll be a greatful customer for years to come. THANK YOU

I purchased these plans a year or so ago and have just now got around to the project. Wish I would have seen the latest ad. I never thought about staining the states different colors. If I had thought about it I may or may not have done it. Pretty happy with the way it came out anyway. As far as the 'State Quarter' plaque, I made my own with Photoshop Elements. Took about 10 minutes and I was able to add 'Hand Crafted by yours truly'. (click to see full-size picture in new window)

3) Submitted by Dillon Hoover, from Hemet, CA on 8/23/2009 Customer Rating: This plan was easy to follow. I am pleased with the final product. With that said, I would only use one layer of 1/4" ply for the backing, not two. I slightly modified the outer frame to accept a piece of glass, rather than the recommended plexiglass. The backing is 1/4" oak ply, the map and inner trim are maple, and the outer trim is bloodwood. I added the coin spaces for the 2009 Provinces. All in all a great show piece to hang on the wall; though it is heavy, so be careful with what you mount it to. (click to see full-size picture in new window)

Reading other reviews I seen that they had stained the states different shades which was very helpful. It makes the board standout. I was a little stumped for a second about gluing the plan to the wood or using carbon paper. The plans said to glue it but at the bottom of the catalog page was a box to get carbon paper. I used carbon paper so as to not destroy the plans for future us by my son or family. Other than that I got it fast and loved it.
