Great drill chuck, well priced, works as advertised. The tab at the end of the taper is a hold-out from a metal lathe. The tab is aligned vertically when inserted into the tailstock, it locks into a slot in the tailstock which helps it grip better.

I bought the Chuck with a #2 Taper for my Craftsman Mini lathe. Right out of the box I was impressed with the fit and finish. It is working nicely and seems very durable. I question the tab at the end of the taper, I have to remember to extend the Tail Stock a little before installing the chuck but that's not a big deal. Very nice product, highly recommended.

I have a Jet mid sized lathe. Since I am new to turning and what works with what I bought the #2 taper with the chuck. It is the correct size and both work well with my lathe. The taper is a bit longer then the ones I have been using, though, so when I put it in the tailstock I need to extend it out a bit for the taper to seat in all the way. Other then that they both work great and I am very happy.

The Taper and Chuck are "all in one", but actually are sold separately. Not a big problem though. The quality of the products is great and they do work really well.

This drill chuck works great in my wood lathe both in the headstock for arbors and in the tailstock for drilling. I purchased a #1 Morse taper with it and they fit together perfect.

This is a good solid drill chuck. It holds well and is well aligned. I do have a gripe with the pictured #2 taper. The tab at the end does not fit into either the headstock or the tailstock of my Delta 46-460. So I ground it off. Then it works fine. I don't really see the purpose of it. The chuck is keyed and should require no assistance other than the key to open. The taper is popped out by a ram so what exactly is that tab for I don't know. Grinding it off was annoying and time consuming. So I knocked down the rating 1 point.

I bought this chuck to work with my Excelsior Mini Lathe. Wasn't sure if I needed a #1 or #2 Morse taper and couldn't find the lathe specs. Anyway, I bought the #2 and it seems to work just fine. One comment for consideration: The description of the chuck didn't make clear that it was a taper fit. I expected a 1/2" X 8 TPI threaded unit. Anyhow, I'm happy with the set up.
