Wanted a fairly simple project for two young grandsons. They had done some prior turning, and wanted something they could use for Christmas gifts. This was a great project for them. Could finish in one session and looked great. Nice prodect and they had a lot of fun. Makes a nice gift also.

My wife has been begging me for one of these for years. Bought a pair of these and made the first one the day they arrived. Used a piece of Macassar Ebony I have been saving for something special, it was a big hit. Time to buy more tools!

The product itself is well made and easy to install. I used a two part handle of Bois de Rose and curly Pink Ivory to give it extra length and joined with brass cane hardware (Rockler #51056). For maximum utility, make sure to use either a curved handle or install the brass scratcher at an angle to the handle so that the "fingers" can easily stay in contact with your back without the handle getting in the way.

It's the holiday season, my kids both had back scratchers on their list. I turned the handles to a finished length od about 12 1/2". By the time I screwed the hands in it's about 16" long. One was turned out of kingwood and the other one out of rosewood. Nice heavy brass hand, complete with a brass socket Made a nice gift that will get used for many years to come.
