3) Submitted by Ed Howe, from Atlanta, GA on 2/25/2009 Customer Rating: In the past I've used the Pushmaster with both V nails for assembling frames and points for mounting the backing. It worked fine for soft wood, but failed miserably with a recent set of purple heart frames I built. I ended up using a different method for assembling the frames, but ordered the Framers Pliers for mounting the backing. I've never used the Frame Master to be able to compare it to these Framers Pliers, but the Framers Pliers worked pretty good, and cost a lot less. I was able to drive the points into the hard purple heart reasonably well, with only a couple points that ended up bent. One reviewer noted that the framing points break if you change the picture out. I would say the points used with these Framing Pliers aren't the best choice for situations where the picture will be changed occasionally.

But they do work, and my use will be only occasional. The pliers and points work adequately in soft wood; I haven't tried them yet in hardwood.
