The folks behind Rockler really know what they are doing. They are serious and professional, and I want to see that.
As far as the 3/4"x 1 1/2" that I ordered, it was a perfectly good piece, well finished, and totally usable. After I cut it to my specifications and size, it required very little finishing work on my part.
I just found a place where to come to for all my projects both with materials and tools.

I ordered the red oak hardwood to redo a park bench that was at least fifteen years old. The wood required very little sanding, and stained beautifully. It looks like a brand new bench. We can now sit alongside our waterfall and enjoy the scenery.

There were too many mill marks requiring sanding and easy to miss before finishing, also some stock was warped. I have better luck purchasing cabinet stile at the local lumber yard where where I can see what I'm getting.

I was able to glue the top oak boards together just the way I received them. The oak pedestal and the fluted claw legs required very little sanding.
My wife loved the table.

This lumber was great! Each piece was well selected and required little or no extra milling. After letting them stabilize to the conditions of my shop I ran each piece through the jointer to check for warping and was pleasantly surprised. I would recommend Rockler's lumber for any project involving quality hardwoods.

I purchased 8 pcs of 1 and 3/4 by 1 and 3/4 inch by 30 inch long red oak stock to fabricate two kitchen counter stools. I found the stock material to be of good, consistent color from piece to piece and the grain selection was good. However, as often occurs when cutting pieces of stock from larger stock, some bowing of the pieces did occur, so it is important to order stock sizes slightly larger than required (as I did) and to have a table saw, joiner/planer and perhaps surface planer to "true-up" the pieces.

I have used Rockler products and services for many years. I made all of the funiture for my three grandchildren's bedrooms, all from Red Oak purchased from Rockler. In my opinion the Oak was unsurpassed in quality. Easy to work, does not warp, bend or split and is durable.

I'm a beginning woodworker. I do not have a jointer or planer yet and needed 1/2 inch stock for a cradle. It is still being made. The wood is in good shape. I sanded the edges a little so I could glue up panels. Some of the stock could have used a very thin run through a jointer, but overall I am very satisfied with the wood and would order again for specialty sizes like I needed.

I'm using the wood to make crosses for my son a Minister. I ordered 5 or 6 diferent types of 1/2" wood.
The only problem I had was because I was new to these woods and I wasn't exactly sure which woods were what. But that is my inexperience.
I will buy again.

Wood was delivered within a week of ordering. The pieces were straight with no bends or cupping. However, they sent me pieces that were 2 different colors, some looked like White Oak, the rest looked like Red Oak I ordered red. Also, the wood had marks all over them, and the end cuts they made were not square! There was enough extra material included to rectify these, but overall I am unhappy with the pieces and will likely not purchase again. I can get similar quality from a big box store, but I least I can look at the lumber before I buy. I expected better quality - totally disappointed.
