1. Size: 1 3/4 wide, 1 1/2 deep (closed).
2. Attachment: Lip mount only, a minimum of 1 inch lip req'd. Must mortise the lip 1/16 to get lid to fit close.
3. Color: might be called antique brass, mine were a lot closer to black.

I purchased a set for an instrument case. They were not suitable due to the lip width requirement. Might be great for a casket where they are used only once.

Hinges are easy to install for me. But the screws need to be bigger or the holes smaller for the two hole smaller hinge piece. I have had hinges pop off but the screws were still attached to the wood. I now use other larger countersunkwood screws to hold the hinges in place. I will still continue to use these hinges though.

These hinges are EXCELLENT! In late 2010 I searched for 3 months to find the proper hinge hardware for a Shaker inspired table I designed. The table had hidden storage under the table top. The table legs stand out 3/8" from the aprons. So, most hinged lid hardware would not work for me. These hinges allow me to move the hinge point past that 3/8". Look at the attached image of the hinge with the tape measure to see if they might work for your application. My first table had an red oak 15"x50" top. I used 4 hinges but that is likely overkill. I used 2 friction lid supports items 25635 and 25643 to hold up that top. I have also made toy chest/blanket chests with 2 of these hinges and spring loaded toy box lid supports. These hinges allow your lids to have an even overhang on the back and front, unlike the more common piano hinge. I mortise them into the aprons with a simple plywood template I created to use with a bearing guided straight bit. I don't really use the separable part of the hinge after the build leaves my shop because I use lid support hardware. The screws that come with the hinges have been suitable to all my finished work to date. They have held just fine in the red oak, hard maple and even in western pine.

These hinges are very difficult to install and align. Not really worth the effort especially if you intend to install the lid support as I have. This is my second go ‘round with these hinges and I now remember why I’d use a piano hinge next time.
