With three layers of monocrystalline diamond, these extra-wide Split Screen Diamond Stones will give you a sharp, well-honed blade on knives, gouges, chisels, and fine pointed tools. Also great for sharpening HSS and carbon! The fast cutting surface pattern is self-clearing and stays flat. The continuous diamond ''micro pad'' (the non-patterned area in the corner of the stone) is ideal for sharpening very small tools. These stones may be used with or without water. Stone may be removed from non-skid base.

I purchased this product because I'm living in my aunt's house for a while, and her kitchen knives are most pitiful. Obviously sharpening 6 of these on my Ace Hardware combination stone would take hours.
The cutting surface is good. It put on a workable primary edge nice and quick, which I then finished on my regular stone.
The solid pad was a big help for the points of the knives, which were completely scandalous.
The stone also comes in a solid plastic base with rubber feet. This lets you put on a good deal of pressure to cut fast.
