The caliper arrived in good condition but had torn through the plastic case in which it was enclosed. I had to loosen the bolt to operate the caliper more easily because it was shipped very tightly joined. Once loosened it operated ok. From a design standpoint, it would be handy if the caliper had some kind of spring attached to keep it closed snuggly as it was pushed along the thickness of a turning. I also wished for some kind of visible gradation indicator other than by looking at the gap to see variations in thicknesses. The caliper did seem to function as it's design intended.
