BEST ANSWER: I haven't exactly figured out what it depends on but sometimes it's clear and sometimes it's more white. Maybe have to do with mix time or volume. Seems like when I use a little bit, it's usually clear, but maybe I mixed it longer.

I've only used it twice and mixed it shorter on the second time than the first because it sets so quick and saw no difference in color. Clear both times.

Marc, the resin and the hardener when mixed, become slightly milky in appearance. It dries relatively clear, at most slightly milky. There is NO color.

Elayne C

BEST ANSWER: I recommend an epoxy resin instead of this epoxy glue. Epoxy glue is designed to bond pieces together. It remains somewhat flexible when it is cured. Epoxy resin is harder after it is cured and is designed for handling in use such as a table top.

This is an epoxy product and I think it would adhere to most surfaces. However, I doubt that it would be suitable for getting into cracks. It is kind of thick and I doubt it would flow into small cracks. In addition, it sets up really fast (from the time you start mixing the two parts together you have less than 5 minutes till it is setting up). I hope this is helpful.

BEST ANSWER: I make knives too. It's working time is short enough that you better have any pins sharpened so can can slide in fast and have everything set and ready to go. It says five minutes and it is. Barely. However, it'll be close to an hour before you can sand it and not have it be gummy.

Holds up excellent. Resin Doesn't harden in bottle.
This has held up excellent in applications that have daily use.
If the resin appears to gel, congeal, or harden; warm it up with a hair dryer, or in a pan of warm water, not hot, and it will return to its fluid form.

first time use
I have never used epoxy on wood before. I was repairing some drawers and couldn't get all the wood glue out. I talked to one of the salesman at the Rockler store and he mentioned epoxy.
I told him what I was working on and also said I had never used epoxy on wood before. He showed the Quick Cure epoxy and said to follow the directions. It sure did the job.

5 Minute Epoxy
I have used this epoxy for at least the past 10 to 15 years and feels that it is the best on the market. I now live in a retirement community and work in one of the communities wood shops with 10 other men. Everyone uses this epoxy and agree that it is the best they have ever used.I have been using it to glue my music boxes together with absolute confidence they will last forever.

Works as advertised
Rock hard when cured and sets up in minutes. If you are spreading it out to fill gaps/knots, work in a section you can effectively smooth out in less than two minutes. If you don't tape off the surrounding surfaces, it has the effect of pore filler and will affect finished surface appearance. Sands easily.

Yes, this epoxy is a bit...
Yes, this epoxy is a bit expensive as glues go, but not if you compare it to hardware store epoxies in small leak-prone tubes or equally aggravating double syringes. The quality is also considerably higher than the usual retail stuff. I worked for several years with carbon and glass composites, and there's a big difference between consumer and industrial epoxies. System 3 is closer to industrial. It sets in about the advertised time, enough to apply a teaspoon or so to work pieces, and it's good and strong in 30 minutes or so, rather than staying rubbery for hours, like typical 5-minute epoxies. The squeeze bottles work well and don't tend to leak. I find this an essential workshop material.

starts fast, hard cures slower
It's nice and clear and goes on well and, as advertised, it starts to set in five minutes. However, it only "starts" to set so you have to be done working with it by then. HOWEVER, it takes a long time, close to an hour to actually set hard. That was unexpected.
