Turn A Gift Class Santa's Workshop - with multiple instructors
Overview: This workshop will focus on experiencing the fun and satisfaction of creating a one of a kind gift on a wood lathe. Each participant will choose from a selection of available kit options and be given the opportunity to work on a wood lathe to complete the project. This workshop will be on a first come first served basis. We do encourage that interested participants pre-register to help with staffing and coordination. Building Cabinets Class - Two Sessions - with John Weeks
Overview: Students will learn about the design and construction of kitchen or shop type cabinets. The class will focus on face frame construction utilizing pocket hole joinery and standard box construction. The students will participate in the construction of a base unit and will build their own sample wall unit that they can take home. All materials will be provided. Machine Made Half-Blind and Through Dovetail Joints - with Ron Stephens
Overview: Learn the techniques necessary to make machined half-blind dovetail joints and through dovetails. Half-blind joint is most commonly used in drawer construction. Through dovetails are used for box construction. Although the class will use the Rockler Dovetail jig, differences with the Porter Cable Dovetail jig will be discussed. Building Shutters - with Pat Jones
Overview: Building shutters has traditionally been a process that required a lot of set up work, jigs and other assembly devises that made for a demanding and challenging process. With the introduction of the Rockler Shutter system much of this has changed. Most woodworkers with modestly outfitted shops can produce shutters that rival custom made shutters at a fraction of the cost. Each student will learn all of the steps necessary to design and build plantation shutters. The student will walk away with a shutter that they have built. Shutter making materials are included. Student will need to provide their own Rockler Shutter Template kit as well as a pair of safety glasses. Skill Level: Intermediate Class Fee: $60 |

Basic Sign Making on The CNC Shark - with Kelly Taylor
Overview: In this class the student will be introduced to the exciting possibilities of woodworking with the use of a computerized CNC machine. The class is structured around the Rockler CNC Shark and V-Carve Software. Each student is required to bring their own computer with The V-Carve software loaded. Basic Marquetry - with Dave Fleming
Overview: Students will learn the basics of creating marquetry with the "double-bevel" cutting technique. The class will explore using both hand ("jewelers") saws and power scroll saws, and will work with both thin, commercial "sliced" veneer and thicker sawn veneer. In addition to learning and practicing the methods, students will make a simple leaf-and-branch marquetry panel. Recommended reading: The Art of Marquetry (1997), Craig Vandall Stevens. Materials will be supplied. Some special tools are required, which will also be provided for use during class, although students having their own tools are encouraged to bring them. Overview: In this class the student will learn the steps necessary to design furniture using Google Sketch up. The class will consist of two sessions with a stretch break. Turning a Treen
Overview: A more challenging turning class... A treen is actually small wooden ware or sometimes referred to as treenware. It can be something as simple as a stirring stick, a "spurtle" or perhaps a carved spoon. Overview: In this 6 hour class the student will learn the use a variety of power tools from the jointer to the router table as they take a piece of rough stock to completion of a simple project like a cutting board.
