Bowls From A Tree - with Bruce Perry
Overview: Bruce Perry will teach you how to turn green wood into bowls. This turning class will make two projects: A roughed out “bowl blank”, intended for future drying, and later re-turning. And a wet turned “finished” bowl, ready for use, and ready to watch the wood move into interesting shapes as it dries. Students will learn how to rough shape between centers, methods to cut cleanly around the shape, how to mount the bowl in a chuck, how to hollow, and how to jamb the bowl to finish the bottom. You will work with various forms of “bowl” gouges and scraping techniques. These projects are completed with minimum sanding, for safe breathing, so methods of leaving the cleanest possible surface are emphasized. All wood and tools supplied by the instructor. You may want to bring your own tools for a tune up, and use them if they apply. Call Bruce for further information! 303-972-4716. Some experience is most helpful, beginners are welcome.
