Shop Setup with Jeff Slaton

Date: August 5, 2014

TIme: 6pm - 8pm

Overview: Throughout his career, Jeff has set up many different shops, small and large, temporary and permanent, all efficient enough to make a living in. Tool selection, work stations, tool and material storage, dust collection, electrical, lighting, along with layout procedures and the importance of a scaled floor plan will be covered.

Dust Collection Basics with Jeff Slaton

Date: August 7, 2014

TIme: 6pm - 8pm

Overview: Avoid known lifetime health hazards, finishing issues, and cleanup times that are caused by tiny wood particles and abrasive dust with this class for all woodworkers on improving the air quality in their shop.

Hand Tool Sharpening with Bob Brancheau

Date: August 9, 2014

TIme: 9am - Noon

Overview: In this class, students will be presented with an overview, a detailed process and a demonstration on how to sharpen plane irons, chisels and card scrapers. Sharpening supplies, tools, and helpful jigs will be discussed as well as several alternate sharpening approaches/methods. Students will practice sharpening their personal plane irons, chisels and card scrapers with help from the instructor. Signup for both sharpening sessions for $50.

Hand Tool Sharpening with Bob Brancheau

Date: August 9, 2014

TIme: 1pm - 4pm

Overview: Using sharp tools is critical to successful turning, and knowing what equipment to use and how to use that equipment makes sharpening easier. We will cover slow speed grinders, the Sorby Pro Edge Sharpening System and the Tormek, and demonstrate how to achieve a good cutting edge by hand and various jigs. Preferred bevel angles and edge profiles for various tools will be reviewed. Signup for both sharpening sessions for $50.

Intro to Woodturning with Bob Brancheau

Date: August 12, 2014

TIme: 6pm - 8pm

Overview: This class is geared to help you get started on the lathe. Tool selection, handling, safety and machine basics will be covered. You will learn how to make cuts to produce beads, coves and other basic spindle shapes.

Pen Turning Basics with Jonathan Youngwirth

Date: August 14, 2014

TIme: 6pm - 8pm

Overview: Pen turning on the lathe is a great hobby that can also make extra money. Jonathon will show students the basic steps of how to set up your lathe with the right mandrel and bushings for easy turning with great results. You will leave the class with a top notch looking pen and the skills needed to make many more.

Intro to the Scrollsaw with Jeff Slaton

Date: August 16, 2014

TIme: 9am - Noon

Overview: You will learn saw set up, how to select the right blade for the project, and how to safely make cuts. We'll get right down to several practice exercises that increase in difficulty as you go. By the end of the class you will be ready to tackle any scroll saw project.

Scrollsaw Standup Puzzles

Date: August 16, 2014

TIme: 1pm - 4pm

Overview: This is a great opportunity to learn a new skill with the scroll saw and make some unique gifts. So join us this day and have a little fun scrolling with Jeff. Leave with two freestanding interlocking puzzles.

Intro to CNC Routing with Jeff Slaton

Date: August 19, 2014

TIme: 6pm - 8pm

Overview: This session will walk you through the process of making a CNC file from start to finish. You will learn to create a design, generate the toolpaths to efficiently and safely cut out the design, preview your file before cutting, convert your project into a cutting file (tap file) that directs the cutting, cut out the final product.

Dovetails with the Rockler Dovetail Jig

Date: August 21, 2014

TIme: 6pm - 8pm

Overview: Want to add some flair to your next project? Learn to setup and use the Rockler Dovetail Jig to make both half-blind and thru dovetails.

Pocket Hole Joinery with Bob Brancheau

Overview: Drill it, clamp it, and drive it — you’ll be impressed at how quickly a pocket-hole joint can pull everything together. When it comes to woodworking techniques, it doesn’t get much simpler than pocket-hole joinery. Learn to use the Kreg pocket hole jig to start building projects today.

Intro to the Router with John Carignan

Date: August 28, 2014

TIme: 6pm - 8pm

Overview: This class that will teach all the ins-and-outs of how to use your Router. Both Router table work and hand-held Router work will be covered. You will learn different techinques of cut, fence and miter gauge work, Router bit selection and basic Router safety. Cutting dados, rabbets, slots, edge trim will be easy.

Turning a Peppermill and "Magic" Salt Shaker with Nick Cook

Date: August 30, 2014

TIme: 9am - 4pm

Overview: Nick will take students thru the steps to create both a Peppermill and the "Magic" Salt Shaker in this all day class. Students will need to provide their own tools. Contact store for a tool requirement list.
