Built on a Budget Series:  Hand Drill Accessories

Overview:  Come and see how a router table can add a new dimension to your workshop!  We will show you how to make both fenced and freehand cuts safely, as weFollowing along with Wood Magazine's Built on a Budget series, over the next 6 months we will help you go step by step in building out your workshop.  Each week we will focus on a time saving jig/fixture for your shop.  This week we will be building a drilling guide along with a drum-sanding guide for your cordless drill.

Bowl Turning Basics

Date:  May 7, 2016

Overview:  If you’ve ever admired wooden bowls and wondered how to make them, here is your opportunity!  You will go step by step through turning your own bowl on the lathe.  You’ll learn about stock selection, chucking, and different bowl finishes.  At the end of the day, you’ll have a bowl to bring home!

Cabinet Making Pt 1 -- Case Construction

Date:  May 14, 2016

Time:  9am - 2pm

Overview:  Have you thought about redoing your kitchen cabinets, but don’t know where to begin?  In this class, we will demonstrate all of the steps of building cabinets.  We’ll begin with box construction and add a face frame utilizing the KREG pocket hole system.  You’ll see the process firsthand and be able to have your questions answered by an experienced cabinetmaker!

CNC Sign Making

Date:  May 17, 2016

Time:  6pm - 8pm

Overview:  Have a CNC and still climbing the learning curve?  This class will cover everything from designing a simple v-cut sign to the more advanced relief cut.  Be sure to bring a pencil and notepad.

Scroll Saw Basics

Date:  May 24, 2016

Time:  6pm - 8pm

Overview:  The scroll saw is a great addition to any shop.  You’ll see how to set up and tune a scroll saw so that it sings!  We will also cover blade selection and basic cuts.  After the class, paid attendees receive a credit for the class tuition towards the purchase of any bandsaw accessories.

Table Saw Basics

Date:  May 31, 2016

Time:  6pm - 8pm

Overview:  If you’re thinking of purchasing a table saw, this is the class for you!  We will demonstrate how to set up and tune your table saw and most importantly, how to make those cuts safely!  Best of all, Paid attendees will receive a credit for the class tuition towards the purchase any table saw accessories.

Tool Sharpening

Date:  June 4, 2016

Time:  9am - 11am

Overview:  It’s nearly impossible to do good work with dull tools.  We will show you how to put a razor sharp edge on your chisels and plane irons using sandpaper and flat glass.  We’ll also cover the proper sharpening of scrapers.  Bring a chisel, plane iron, and scraper.  By the end of the class you’ll have sharp tools and the skills to sharpen more!

Bandsaw Basics

Intro to CNC

Overview:  Learn the basics of CNC technology for the home shop in this two hour lecture style class.  Students will leave with a guide to CNCs, a sample project run during the class, and the basic understanding of what a CNC can do for their shop.
