Gave it a 3 only because I need a 1 inch tape. I only own the wide tapes which this does not fit. I did not give this a thought when I bought it. I was checking out when the checker came on with his schpeel and I tossed it in the bag. I still haven't tried it out, it is presently adorning the lid on my tool box.

I bought my Fast Cap flatback SAE tape a few years ago. I have not used it much, although, it is a great concept and every woodworker needs one. We have treated this tape well and given it the good care that all our tools deservel. I recently also bought a Metric version of this tape. The problem with my SAE flatback tape is that it was not durable. It recently refused to recoil back into its case. No adult in my family could fix it. There are no children. In desperation, I finally had to toss it. I have ordered another one, mainly because my 49-year-old daughter uses it every time we woodwork together, usually about 2-3 times per month. I purchased one of these about a year ago. This is the only tape measure I use. I like being able to get measurements going both ways without having to twist my head around and read it or swapping sides of the table. This is just a good sturdy tape measure.
