This is a nice machine.. Very quiet compared to conventional planers.. Cut quality is excellent.. The issue that I have with this machine is that in the specifications section, it is stated as having a steel stand with lockable casters.. And it does.. However they DO NOT function properly.. They DO NOT lock!.. I went to a distributor and checked the one on display.. That one's lockable casters worked as well as mine.. They didn't!.. The distributor said they would contact the company and get back to me, and they did. They said they were told to fix it by placing a wedge there to keep it from moving. I had a hard time believing this so I called Powermatic.. Yup, that's the fix, go figure? Are you kidding me? I guess I'm wrong to expect something with this kind of price tag to...

Blade change out on this is as easy to do as the big Dewalt which costs $100 more than this. Gives a very fine cut and the height adjustment is very easy to work with. The posi-stop knob is very useful also. One thing to note is if you've never used a planer they produce a small french fry shaped shaving. With that in mind the dust collection hood for this is not the greatest. You'll need to cut away the fins inside the chute if you attach it. Otherwise it'll plug up and you'll wonder why your not cutting anything. This wasn't an issue for me though. Love the planer.

I have been wanting/needing a unit like this for several years now and finally picked up my 10" planer/jointer combo unit yesterday. I have yet to use it however! After assembling everything, I found that the infeed table is out-of-square (left to right) across the cutter head. The table slopes down to the left end of the cutter head, taking a shallower cut near the fence. The maunal has a troubleshooting section but there is no information about table alignment anywhere. If I can figure out how to correct this alignment issue, I'm sure I'll get many years of reliable service for my new toy!

Review 1 of 1:

I have been using this planer for over two years now and it is phenomenal. Never had a single issue with it and have planed literally thousands of board feet, including very hard woods like tiger wood, ipé etc...I did upgrade the cutter head to a helix head and it has improved the planer further still. But this was because I didn't want to have to sharpen and adjust the standard four blade head. Just ensure it is oiler regularly and you keep the bed clean and you will be delighted with this tool. Highly recommended!

Review 1 of 1:
I have just purchased this jointer/planer, and have run about 100' of softwood (doug fir, redwood) through it to test it out. Here are my first impressions: - poor alignment out of the box. + Knife blades 1/32" higher on one side than other + Outboard end of jointer infeed table is about 1/16" higher than edge closest to knife + edge of jointer infeed table closest to front of machine has vertical play even when table is fully locked down + fence is WAY out of square relative to table, by about 1/4" from front to back + planer table not parallel to cutter blades - off by 1/32" from one side to the other + the manual does not list how to align anything other than the blades. I've heard it can be done though. - knife blades are already knicked after less than...

Review 1 of 9:
Installation was a breeze and the accuracy is fantastic. Make sure you do a loose fit up before securing with the screws to test for any binding. I had to do a little bending to straighten out the actuator. After one year of use though, I'm on my fourth lithium battery #2032 at three bucks a piece. I suspect there is a constant drain to maintain the zero position in the guage, so I will start removing the battery when not in use. Re-calibrating is easy to do anyway on the first piece of wood you run through the planer. A 110volt power supply would be welcome.

Review 1 of 4:

After sharpening 2 sets of Delta 12 1/2 blades found as much as .007 difference from end too end, use 3/8" plate glass for the sand paper. Double checked everything such as sure planer blade was bottomed out in slot. Good idea but needs perfecting.

Review 1 of 16:
Bought a #6, Groz Hand Plane, not impressed with the "fit" of the blade against the sides of the bottom and the "gap" of the blade with the mouth. Why? No matter how much I tighten it, the blade does not stay straight to the mouth and after a few passes, the blade is at an angle with the mouth. Constantly readjusting it. I think buying a bigger blade and chip break would definitely help. Since you will invest time/resources fine-tuning this plane, why not look for an old Stantley and go that route. I have both, and there is a noticeable difference.
