Having had problems with the Bosch mount galling up the router motor from chips filling in around the motor and making adjustment nearly imposible I bought this router lift, it was the best move I could have made. Adjusting the bit height is so easy now and changing bits is also easy to do above the table. I did get some drifting of the height while routing but it was not the fault of the lift it was from an out of balance router bit. I enjoy using this lift very much. It is well made and will most likely last me a long time. I recommend it to anyone who asks about it.

Fantastic Porter & Cable 3 1/4 HP Router! I recycled an old De Walt Radial Arm Saw Stand to accommodate my new router and Rockler Table Top. Now I need a Rockler, & Porter & Cable emblem to attach to the front with the De Walt Sign!

Porter Cable is Porter Cable, it's a quality tool company. The 690's power is great, height adjustments are accurate, and the bushings are easily replaceable. Very long lasting tool.

Review 1 of 11:
This router is really a pleasure to use, light and very powerful and extremely precise. I use it with a Rockler table and lift and it is very convenient except for changing bits in the table. Have an offset wrench now that makes it easier. The one annoying thing is that to use Rockler dovetail unit, you must buy two accessories, the RA1126 Template guide adapter and the RA1100 adapter to fit in it. Standard threaded base retainer screws do not fit, so take good care of the ones supplied. Other than that, I really like the handling of this router better than the PC. The router is a 5 star item

It's just as David said. It's one strong router and I also made Norm's table for my router. I did install a lift for it that In got at a local woodworker show last Christmas and altered the Rockler router plate to use with it. They both work great! I am now using a the smaller version for those lighter jobs(693).

Review 1 of 6:
Bought the kit with all the different bases. Have only used the basic base. Pretty disappointed with the engineering design. I know Porter-Cable can do better. There is a height-adjusting thumb wheel and a locking knob on the back of the base. Locking the height with this knob changes the height setting every time. It becomes a cat-and-mouse game to set the height precisely. This is not a precision tool. My expectation was that it perform with the accuracy of my Porter-Cable or Festool router. It cannot.

Review 1 of 16:
A few months ago I needed a new router, saw a good deal on the PC892 and, thinking that Porter Cable was a good name, I jumped on it. Unfortunately, I couldn't have been more disappointed with this tool. If there is anything that a router must have it is a flat base which keeps the bit at a right angle to the table. The base of the PC892 is a thin sheet of plastic that is screwed onto a cast metal base which is not machined. You are trusting the accuracy of a raw casting to keep your routing setup aligned! My router rocked back and forth on a flat surface like some kind of child's toy. The folks at my local Rockler were great about taking the router back and exchanging it for a new Bosch MRP23 router (highly recommended, the definition of what a router...

Review 1 of 17:
Bought a reconditioned unit that looked like new. Never tried a palm router before. Always thought that it wouldn't have the power. This model is great, however. Has plenty of power for my needs. I especially like it for edge routing with bits w/bearings. It just feels more stable on the work surface than my "two-fisted" models because of the way it is gripped in operation. I think it will be the router I grab first on almost all projects. The optional sub-base for use with router guide bushings is well worth the added cost.
