Review 1 of 3:
I was a little skeptical at first, but I have heard so many stories about using a CNC router, but they are just so expensive. Well, here comes a much more affordable CNC unit! Wow...! It comes with the software, the bits, the router motor! just about everything needed but a computer wrapped up in one nicely packaged box! The software is very simple to understand and can get you carving in a couple hours! I started out working on a small piece just to get my feet wet, a simple sign with some letters heck, I was able to do it in my office it was so quiet, then I did some lithophanes, which are by far the coolest thing I have ever made - then I decided to tackle a more complex carving out of wood. I went online and found the most complex image I...

1. This unit is heavy. I was able to assemble it completely on my own but a second hand would have been nice. I have a custom made bench for it as you can see in the pictures. The bed weighs over 60 lbs itself and was quite the challenge to get it up the without using the table itself as a lifting point, but as you can see it can be done. The gantry weighs about 35 lbs but it very awkward to move easily. I was worried about damaging it and the mounts so my solution was to lay down a thick piece of cardboard on the table. I then took a small aluminum 2 ton car jack and placed it on the bed. I moved the gantry motor carriage to the middle to set the side to side balance evenly. I then raised the jack up to...

Review 1 of 4:
I had a problem with the machine not having full travel in the X axis when I first tried to use it. A few phone calls to the manufacturer, and I was able to correct this. The Bravo software, while OK for photo engraving, really limits the machines true ability. I purchased V-Carve Pro from Vectric which allows the bit to go directly to the point that the engraving needs to be, moving the X and Y axis simulatneously, rather than just moving back and forth in the X axis, which speeds up the process tremendously and produces smoother curves. Overall, this is a very good product, but I wish there was a larger variety of tool bits available, such as a V bit.

This is 100% needed for doing bit changes during a project so that you don't lose Z during tooling change. If you have a CNC Shark without this, buy it. You need it.

Review 1 of 14:
As a professional woodworker and cabinet shop owner this machine would be ideal for all small cabinet/ woodworking shops if it could machine parts up to 24in. in width by 36in. in length. It's current size is ok for small carvings and signs for the enthusiest. This would certainly bridge the gap of the larger and more expensive CNC machines such as Shop Bot etc.

After all the trouble I went through with the Craftsman, I took it back and now I have the CNC Shark. I Love the result & how much quiter it is. Easy to get the job done in a short time and I learned to work from all the training online and now I can do everything. I will buy another one. Please don't make my mistake, buy the CNC Shark. Its so strong & goes so smooth though the hardest wood. I work 4-8 Hrs a day non stop and I have the perfect result everytime. Good luck to everyone.

Review 1 of 3:
I followed instructions on how to set this up and use it. I had a piece of molding that was approximately 1/2 inch wide and I guessed at least 6 inches would accomplish what I needed. I set everything up and started the scan. The tip bent when it came to the model it was supposed to scan. I will find another way of doing this type of work.

Review 1 of 2:
I purchased this in hopes to keep the chips from flying. After installing it, I found that the bristles didn't seem to come down far enough to help create the suction area that was needed to stop the woodchips. I thought maybe I had placed my router too far down in that carrier, but even when I raised it to its highest point, I still did not have adequate coverage. I guess I could push my standard size bit all the way up into the router, but then I would lose the ability to carve the 1/4 in depth that I was looking for as the collet would hit the sides.
