Two time looser on this.....was not even close to being square. Was a gift from my wife, so I attempted to correct it with a  router bit. The bit lost one of it's cutting edges just as I started. A wooden gauge made in China. Not worth it!

Review 1 of 3:

After weeks of research I decided to try a water based dye on my cherry dining table. The advantages I was looking for were depth and clarity of finish and more eveness for different colored grain. I first used a shellac wash coat to pre treat the wood and prevent blotching. I next used a mixture of medium brown, vintage cherry, and amber water based dye stain to stain the bottom of the table top. This was after many test pieces using the shellac and stain to get the perfect color and finish. It was difficult to get an even stain because it would dry so fast indoors 82 degrees. So, I finally figured this is a two person job. One person applys and another wipes off before dry. This was the only way to prevent streaking and uneveness. I finally got an even stain. Others are right when they...

Review 1 of 2:

I build guitars. Ebony can be very difficult to work with. When I ordered from Rockler, I really didn't know what to expect. Dimensionally, I have purchased ebony that had great variance from other suppliers. I have found worm holes in some. I have had to get creative to cut out the pieces I needed, leaving a lot of waste wood in my scrap wood bin. I have been impressed with Rockler in my dealing with them. They seem to always give great attention to detail and quality, I'm sure from being wood craftsmen and womenthemselves. So, I ordered my ebony with nearly minimal dimensions hoping they would continue their accuracy in resawing. When I received my order via UPS, I was impressed with the packaging. There was no sawdust in the box. The ebony boards were dimensionally generous. The ebony was flat, it had a minimal amount of "white"...

Review 1 of 5:
I manufacture magic props, tables, and wands. I recently purchased 2 pieces of gabon ebony 1 1/2 x 1 1/2 x18. I cut these down into 4 blanks each to make wands. The one piece was 1 3/8 x 1 1/2 which messed up the measurments of the blanks. Since these pieces are covered with wax you don't know what you are getting until you cut them for the blanks. Both pieces were full of cracks and splits that they really weren't usable. Out of the two pieces I should have been able to turn eight wands. Instead I only got two out of them. This was money wasted for me.

Ok, I love this wood...and I love Rockler's Customer Service. The first piece I ordered was very beautiful but very defective, having a large check right smack in the middle of it, which would take the 2x2x18 usable material down to tiny bottle stopper size. A really bad quality control decision. Rockler sent me a new one which was definitely hand selected and equally as beautiful but this time very clean. This is the first time I have had an issue with Rockler's Quality Control Guys so I'm not going to ding them and I certainly will not blame the wood. People, you need to try this stuff, it is beautiful. Rockler, your awesome, just pay attention to what goes into the box and out to us, you customers the first time.

"Have been a return customer for a number of years, and a recent experience has really cemented that bond for me. After using my Rockler lighted magnifying lens for a few months, one of the wires from the battery pack came loose. When I contacted Customer Service to inquire about sending the unit back, they instead sent me a brand new one - no questions asked, no return expected, no charge whatsoever. This simple step - coupled with top quality, innovative products - ensured my repeat business more than any other advertising technique or gimmick could ever do. Keep up the good work, Rockler!"
