I loved working with this stuff especially after struggling with the sticky mess Minwax gel stain made! I sanded lightly and applied it with a sock over a rubber glove in long even strokes. Let it dry as is-it will dry hard in less than a day. Put on extra coats if you want a darker look. The wood grain shines through beautifully, and the General Finishes Gel Urethane Top Coat gives it a golden durable varnished glow. A friend bought some too, but we discovered that the stain looks a little different on different kinds of hardwood. Experiment on the back of a cabinet door to get the color you want. I used straight Brown Mahogany, but her cabinets look like they'll need a mix of that and the Mocha to get the same dark reddish color. Thank you, Rockler!

I found this harder to use than some of the other reviews would suggest. I used alcohol as the solvent and wiped it on birds eye maple with a cloth. I tried it on a test piece first and the botching was very bad. I then tried mixing with blond shellac and found that to work a bit better, but it was still hard to get a good uniform cover. I don't think these problems are unique to Trans Tint but I don't see this brand as being any easier to use than other stains I have tried. I have since read that it may be better to spray on and to use water as the solvent. I don't think I will bother to try it again.

Received my maple today in the post. It was well packed and of the highest quality. Very pleased with it. It will be used in some Christmas gifts. Thank you Rockler! !

I ordered the 1/2x5x48 piece and I have to say, it’s very disappointing. The grain is very flat with virtually no figure at all. Couple that with the terrible resaw marks on both sides of the wood and it makes this purchase a bust. By the time I mill out the imperfections I'll be lucky if I have 3/8" thickness of a very ordinary piece of soft maple. I’m just glad I only bought one piece instead of ordering several pieces as I intended. I have been pleased with many things I’ve purchased from Rockler, but this is certainly not one of them.
