I use the 3/4 wide for projects such as displays, small wall clocks,etc. Since the wood is very hard, it tends to crack if not predrilled, not a bad thing, just be aware. I love how it takes poly so well also.

A beautiful piece of clear purpleheart. I used it to make the keys for a xylophone for my daughter's 3rd grade music project. I was able to tune each key to the precise note by cutting it to a specific length. It has a very fine grain and sands beautifully. All the kids loved the purple color. Quick delivery and well packaged. I will definitely buy again from Rockler.

Same results as others. I'm very experienced, but while trimming the barrel to length, a big chunk of the walnut blew out. I bought four of these and I guess I'll try another one, but I don't need this hassle. Blank looks beautiful, but it's not sturdy, and I don't understand why.
