- Rockler Clamp-It® Corner Clamping Jig
Overview
Struggling to hold cabinet parts in alignment while driving fasteners can be an exercise in frustration, and if you're using a nail gun, downright dangerous. The Rockler Clamp-It® Corner Clamping Jig eliminates that frustration by providing another set of ''hands'' to hold your parts together. It's used with the enormously popular Clamp-It® (#29190, sold separately) to hold panels at a precise right angle for fastening. Used in sets of four, the jigs are supportive enough to hold an entire case assembly as it is being assembled. The clamps have soft pads to prevent workpiece marring. Mounting holes in the jig allow for attachment to your work surface.
Features:
- Extra-wide base, high walls and strong Acme threaded clamp screw hold panels securely
- Thick cushioned pads to prevent marring
- Durable glass-filled polycarbonate construction
- Mounting holes allow for attachment to work surface for creating assembly jigs
- Jig holds panels exactly 3/4'' off the work surface so you can use scrap boards to support other corners if using only one jig at a time
Important Notes
- Drilling of 3/8" holes may be required in older Clamp-Its for use with this product.
What's included
(1) Rockler Clamp-It® Corner Clamping Jig
(2) 1'' Screws for Attaching Clamp-It (#29190 not included)
(2) 1'' Screws for Attaching Clamp-It (#29190 not included)

Yes, however you may need to modify the square of the 69954 by drilling mounting holes in them that align up with the jig as what you see for item # 29190. See instruction here: http://go.rockler.com/tech/Adapting_Original_Clamp-Its_for_58918.pdf

Let's step out of the hard line answer that it was not designed to be used with it. Since #33586 is adjustable, it is no where near as strong as the rigid 29190. But if you really want to try it, then you will have to drill some 5/16" mounting holes into the #33586. Dimensional data found under "Technical Downloads" http://go.rockler.com/tech/Adapting_Original_Clamp-Its_for_58918.pdf ( dead center at 1" and offset from the ends by 1.5")

Are there any similar products that would work for assembling carcasses built from 2x4's?
mcilroy50
on Jan 22, 2016
BEST ANSWER: You can build your own narrower versions of the 29190 square add-on to clamp thicker materials if you need a higher lip on the backside. Otherwise you can go up to just shy of 3 inches without the 29190 square inserts. With the 29190's in place the maximum width is just shy of 1 inch. Not sure why Lyman L said small wood. So the answer is maybe, it you are talking about the 1.5" dimensional side of the 2x4, but not the 3.5" dimensional side.

The inside dimensions of the blue corner clamps are 6" by 6", so you could make a box with inside dimensions of 12"by12" or larger, but you'd have to use the smaller 4" black ClampIt on the inside, versus the 8" version.

BEST ANSWER: Hi Carl. These clamp-it jigs are very heavy duty and work great. You must also purchase the clamp-it square (below) to go with each jig. You need at least 2 of each to be effective. I purchased 4 of each to give more versitality. They are very pricey and I regretted purchasing them at first because of that, but they have proven to be very helpful when aligning large projects. I also purchased 2 sets of the mini clamp-it assembly sets.

Rockler Clamp-It® Assembly Square
Oops! Typo errors within my answer. Allow me to redo...
Corrected version...
These clamps work satisfactorily when clamped properly to fitting material. However, if the material to be clamped is not cut square the clamp will render a unsatisfactory result. Great joints will result utilizing 90° joinery. I own four sets... Very helpful with all 90° joinery.

I just bought 8 of these and 1 1/2" x 20 (2) black screws were included. They were screwed into the clamp itself initially with a nut holding each in place. They screwed in the clamp from the back/bottom... I had some older black right-angle assembly squares that I had to drill holes in to accommodate the screws as they went through the clamp

No screws were included with mine.

I bought two of these corner jig clamps and they arrived with out the black angle pieces shown in the photos. Are they not included? The clamps appear to be useless without them.

Would I be able to use these with Woodpecker brand clamping squares? It would make setup time much faster than using separate clamps.

Very helpful
These were excellent for assembling base kitchen cabinets. I added a four inch riser (accounting for toe space) to support the cabinet bottom...worked perfectly.

A very nice helper
Before I bought this, I was using my own diy wooden jig. This corner jig won't swell crack and break like Oak wood. Works really well on big 34/-inch plywood cabinets, chest and boxes of that sort.

A Low Cost Extra Set of Hands
My workshop is small and these clamps worked out perfectly. These clamps made my cabinet project so easy, I’ll just make an extra set of cabinets. These clamps are solid, strong, and simple to use. I would recommend to friends & family.

First use of the Corner Clamping Jig
I have used various corner clamping jigs - self-made, Rockler and other brands.
I had a difficult assembly of a large cabinet and decided to try the Rockler Corner Clamping Jig. I was not sure it was worth the extra investment since I had the other jigs already.
It worked as advertised and greatly simplified the assembly, so I bought a second jig to make things even easier.
I have used it on several different jobs and my assemblies come out square and have saved time.

Nice tool for corner clamping
I am a model railroader and the supporting benchwork needs to be square. Needed a clamp that could handle the materials I use and that was easy to set up and work with. This fit the bill perfectly. I like that it is rigid with with quick screw clamps and yet not heavy or bulky.

I use the clamps to hold my pieces together when I am assembling cabinets. It holds the pieces together perfectly at 90 degrees. It is a real time saver. Don Miller, D&S Custom Cabinets.

These are EXCELLENT, I could not have assembled the patio
box I made by myself them. Definitely better even than a second pair of hands, as these will hold your project forever (and never need a potty break!).

After using them the first time, they were like having another pair of hands or an additional helper assembling tall cabinet bodies. They are worth every penny spent. Not only holds panels square but very secure during assembly. Highly recommended.

Why just the jig?
I've purchased a lot of rockier products over the years but lately their prices have gone through the roof. I own two of these. The only problem I have with them is that I have to buy the corner square tool to complete the jig. Why not just sell the pair as a kit? I laminated 2 pieces of 3/4" plywood and made my own square tools. I mounted these squares to the jig and they worked out great. Other than that I'm completely satisfied with this product.

Just got one and used to make book case. Very easy to square corners and joints. You need at least two of the squaring forms and couple of small clamps. I'm pleased with how this makes squaring frame easy.

Best thing yet..........
This is great product and will be using them for years to come. I have clamps that are supposed to provide the same purpose. But,,, this product is so much more versatile and stable than the other products......... I'm currently making bookcases and if you've make bookcases.... especially tall ones you'll wish you had these clamps to hold the "box" square and in place while installing the shelves, moldings, etc.......... also...... if you don't have plans to go by.... these clamps allow you to construct the pieces separately with accurate dimensions because the clamps allow you to hold pieces in place to measure other pieces......... this was not possible without these clamps with such ease........

Great design great product
Great product, for those who read about the durability issues. Here is the thing, this is not a heavy duty clamp. It holds the stuff in place and does what it was design to do. The plastic is not cheaply made either. I recommend this product
