Great quality and Rock Solid!

Robert Posted January 1, 2014
The cabinet arrived packaged very well with no damage or missing parts. The instructions are good, all of the fasteners are bagged separately and all of the parts are labeled. There is a list of required tools. I would add to the tool list; if you have a flexible shaft magnetic screwdriver it will be a great benefit, a new #2 Philips driver and a vacuum would help. All of the large sheet metal parts were covered with foam beads from the packing. Due to static they are difficult to remove except with a vacuum.

From the start of assembly I could see my #1 objection; all of the 171 screws to be installed are Philips head. IMHO it would be much better to make them hex head. I suppose there are 2 ways to look at Philips vs. hex in this assembly. Hex is much easier to tighten however the added strength would make it more likely to strip threads in the thin sheet metal. If I were to assemble another cabinet I would buy pop rivets to replace most of the screws.

Having made the above statement about fasteners, of the 170+ screw holes I had only 2 holes that did not align up properly making it difficult to install the screws. Both of these screw holes were in the bottom rear skirt in each corner. Many of the screw holes are in tight areas thus the need for the flexible shaft screwdriver.

Regarding the 2 cabinet levelers in the base; I will leave off the bottom nut and spot weld the top nut to the threads so it can be adjusted from inside the cabinet. Rockler should add a thin locking nut to be installed under the top nut. This would allow adjustment from inside the cabinet.

This cabinet has very high quality CNC cut parts which accounts for the great fit. Looking at all of the sheet metal parts and the vast amount of screw holes, you would expect to encounter a lot of problems in assembly. In my assembly there were no problems to my amazement!

I have a couple of woodworking buddies who asked why I didn’t just build a mobile router cabinet. At 67 years old I like to maximize my time. I would rather use the time to build furniture and it also matches my cabinet saw!

Take your time on assembly. There are a lot of screws to install and your hands are likely going to get tired. Where you have a great number of screws in 1 panel, leave them loose till all screws are installed then tighten.

I bought this cabinet as a package with the Bench Dog Cast Iron Table, lift & fence. The table & lift have not arrived yet. I am like a kid looking through the wind of a candy store waiting!!

I would highly recommend this cabinet to anyone who is considering a purchase. After assembly it’s rock solid.

Great quality and Rock Solid after assemble!

I traveled to the Cambridge, MA....

David K from Westfield, MA Posted January 28, 2012
I traveled to the Cambridge, MA. store to purchase my table about 180 miles roundtrip. It took me about 2 1/2 hours to fully assemble. I could not believe the quality of the sheet metal pieces. Typical sheet metal componets will have misaligned holes, but the Rockler table had none. This is testament to the quality of the manufacturing process. GREAT JOB ROCKLER!!!
