Rockwell has long been a trusted brand name in woodworking. From 1945 through the 1970s, the Rockwell Machinery Co. manufactured innovative and dependable power tools that became mainstays in home, school and professional shops across the country. In 1981, Rockwell sold its power tool division, and the new owners dropped the Rockwell brand name. For more than 20 years, the brand was absent from the marketplace – until, in 2005, the Positec Tool Group acquired the brand name and revived it by releasing innovative lines of high-quality tools. "We didn’t create the first Rockwell power tool, but we have a great respect for all of the hard-working people who did," Positec says on its website. "We take very seriously the history of such a storied name in power tools, and we are committed to ensuring that each and every Rockwell power tool that we design and produce carries on the tradition of quality and innovation that is the Rockwell name."
