BEST ANSWER: The Kreg PRS 3040 levelers are designed to use in a table opening with a 3/4" radius on each corner. The radius on the Rockler Router Lift FX is 3/8". This difference would create a void that could hinder the optimal operation of your table.

Will it fit in the Kreg router table? I can't find the insert dimensions.
Murphy S
on May 22, 2015
BEST ANSWER: The lift has a 3/8" corner radius so it will not fit a table with a 3/4" corner radius. However, it can be adapted to a table having a 3/4" radius by filing the corners on the lift down to a 3/4" radius. The insert is aluminum so this wouldn't be a difficult task.

BEST ANSWER: Sorry I do not have a direct answer but, You could install your own threaded inserts. This would allow for some adjustment. Most all table plate holes, are slight deeper then needed. This is allows for some depth adjustment. If your table is made of wood or Composite, it would be possible for you to use your own router to modify the depth of the hole. Then it could match the hole size needed or modify the table to provide height adjustment. Hope this helps

I have the exact router and base and after a year when using the router the motor would drop changing the depth of cut. Investigation revealed that the adjustment shaft was moving away from the gears and causing the motor to drop. After a month using the rockier lift not once have I ruined a router cut. Using your price example well worth the extra $140

Thanks, in the hardware bags that come with the lift is a bag with 2 black bolts( which attach the plate to the table ) and there was a silver screw head bolt that had approximately 1" nylon bushing on it.....since I asked the question I noted there is a threaded hole on the lift plate that is approx 2" from the router bit that this will thread into. I can't quite figure out what this is for? And this isn't mentioned in any of the instructions?

Are the inserts held on merely by screws? Is there some form of quick removal? Having to undo a bunch of screws any time i need to change inserts is a huge design flaw and a deal breaker for me.

BEST ANSWER: Initially the three screws seemed somewhat bothersome however after that initial experience , I kept my small battery powered screwdriver with a magnetic tip to remove and replace the screws . Placing the screws in a small shallow container to keep them from wandering off helped as well. I am now thankful for a secure and easy way to keep the insert in place .

Yes, the inserts are held down with three screws. It doesn't take that long to remove them but if this is a deal breaker for you then you should look elsewhere.

I have the Porter Cable 890 motor and it seems like I have to take the plate insert out (3 screws) before I can change bits. Does this seem correct? And even with the plate insert removed, I still can't reach the spindle lock button so I have to wedge the spindle wrench in to the bottom nut at a weird angle and then use a second wrench to loosen the nut. Am I doing something wrong or is this the intended procedure? I've used other lift/router combinations where it was trivial to change bits above the table.

BEST ANSWER: hi dave you should be able to crank the router up high enough with the height adjuster .if not check how you have the router mounted in the holder you may need to re-adjust the router higher in the holding mount. you should be able to use the two wrenches to change the bites .one on the shaft an one on the locking nut. If your using a wide bite like a 1/2" rounding bite you'll have to change the plate with a bigger hole .goodly luck

Great fit for a table saw extension
Very nice Router lift. I had considered building one until I saw this on sale. Very happy I bought it. The only issues I had was that I didn’t know about the router plate template and leveling kit until after I ordered it. I installed the lift it in my table saw extension and ended up making the template and bought #8 screws at the local hardware store.

Makes adjusting height so easy
Love it. My only suggestion is on future models, add a 1/8th inch grid scale on each side of the base plate for fence alignment.

Outstanding
Assembly was a breeze. It easily accepted my Porter Cable 2 1/4 HP motor. I considered the Incra lift, but the Incra doesn't fit my Benchdog cast iron table saw insert. The Rockler lift is every bit as accurate as the Incra, it looks better, is cheaper, and I couldn't be any happier with my purchase.

Lift great - table not so great
The lift is great. What was less than stellar was the cutout in the Rockler-high-pressure-laminate-router-table-top. It was not matched properly to the lift (undersized by roughly 1/16â??) and required 2+ hours of filing to get it to fitð??¡.

This router lift is awesome. It is easy to use and easy to set up. The dial does wiggle a bit on tough routing applications, but does not change the height of the bit, in my experience.

Big improvement
My router came with a base that is designed to be mounted under a table. I used that for several years and was always annoyed by how hard it was to precisely adjust the bit height. Recently I changed to the Lift FX and immediately found that my router projects went quicker. It takes fewer test cuts, the adjustments are repeatable and accurate. Using my rail and style bits has become so much easier. The last set of interlocking drawer corners fit together just like the pictures showed it should ( I think that was a first!) Wish I had gotten it sooner.

Makes a huge difference
Between this router lift and the Rockler micro-adjustment tool for tweaking the fence location, I am so much more productive and accurate with router table work. It is great for dialing in on tenon thicknesses so you can match up perfectly with the router bit used for creating their mortises. One note for fellow users - if you go shopping for replacement plate inserts and you have had your Rockler branded lift for five or more years, you might have a Jessem manufactured lift and you will need to get inserts from them. The telltale is if you have only two holes in your insert and it is 3 11/16" in diameter. These inserts have a special tool that turns them and locks them in place but you can survive without it.

Rockler Router Router Lift FX
This lift made routing so easy and so much fun. I built a router cabinet several months ago and purchased a Bosch 1617 2.25 HP Router. I couldn't see paying $300.00 for a lift so when Rockler's lift went on sale I jumped and glad I did The lift was easy to install with no hitches. Before I had to either reach under the cabinet or try to use the hex wrench Bosch supplied to raise the router from above. This would not always work well and limiter the raising height. Great Lift!
