Laroy Starrett invented the combination square in 1877 and it has become a basic tool for every craftsman and builder. The C11H series has a cast iron head with a handy spirit level and a hardened scriber. The blade is machine divided, hardened and tempered with a reversible lock bolt that allows the blade to be turned over or end-for-end without removing the lock bolt or nut. This assures true alignment of the blade and head.

As soon and I received the Starrett Square I squared my cheap combo's against the Starrett, not a single one of them were even close to being square.
Give it a try, it will open your eyes to true craftsmanship of the makers of this square.
