Wanted a sled for long time! Chose Rockler cross cut sled (larger one) because it does about everything small sled will do plus larger pieces and miters. Can't go wrong w excellent reviews. Making sled from scratch just too exacting to get 100% right for someone with limited skill and patience, like me. After I see how well this fits on small Dewalt saw, I hope to order drop off platform. Costs way less than other brand and seems simpler. Like that.

My porter cable small 10 inch saw only has 6 inches to the left of the slot, but has an extendable table on the right side of the blade. if the sled was "opposite hand" it would be better. I am considering building out the table on the left side to accommodate the slide, but not an easy task. Has anyone done this?

on Aug 6, 2017
BEST ANSWER: WHEN you put the sled into the slot, assuming it fits the slot, you run the sled through the blade and it cuts the sled to the exact dimension for your saw. This gives you a zero tolerance cut which is ideal. You might also consider buying the matching cut off sled (not the actual name) that catches the cut off section so that it doesn't splinter when the cut is complete, giving a much cleaner cut.

on Jul 28, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I have the Dewalt 744. Use the smaller version specifically for small saws. It is what I have, along with the off cut. I like it, although be aware that if you are cutting something tall that the fence pulls out of perpendicular when you tighten it down. When I do that I use some paper to wedge it into alignment. I just upgraded to a full size saw, and this will be one of my first purchases.

I bought the large version but took it back because it was too big for my Dewalt. They have a smaller version but I ended up making one for myself using the Incra miter guides. Incra also makes an "express combo" version of their crosscut guide that looks like it is very good quality.

The concept for this sled is great. However, be sure that the track for the slide will fit your saw. The slide comes with rails of 23/32 inches wide. The rails were too large for my saw so I had to make my own rails. There apparently is no standard for track-rail sizes so use caution.

will it work with sawstop jobsite?
R O
on Jan 4, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I have seen but not worked with the Sawstop Jobsite. You just need to check the width of the miter fence slot. The left side slot is used by the Crosscut sled to align and hold the sled. As far as I know this is a standard .75 inch width. So it should work. The other consideration is that the Sawstop table is shorter so you might need an outfeed roller to hold up the sled as it finishes the cut.
Hope this helps. BTW, I use my sled more often than I thought I would.

What is the cross cut capacity?
John P
on Nov 2, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I'm unsure what you are looking for as an answer to this. The sled is 23 3/4" wide so anything longer than that will be hanging off the edge. The capacity then becomes a question of how dense the wood you are cutting is because more dense wood will cause more leverage in a shorter distance as it hangs over the edge. That combined with whether you clamp it down using the built in fence or just use your fingers to hold it in place. You will essentially be able to cut a longer piece of light wood that is clamped at the fence as compared to dense wood that you are holding in place with your fingers.

BEST ANSWER: I'm unsure what you are looking for as an answer to this. The sled is 23 3/4" wide so anything longer than that will be hanging off the edge. The distance from the fence set at 90* is right at 19". You should be able to do that but its going to depend also somewhat on the width of your table saw.

I don't know why it would not work just fine as long as your saw has a 3/4" wide miter track.

BEST ANSWER: the miter bar sits in a routed groove; relocating the bar is not a good approach.
my solution would be to rip off a hard wood - maple suggested - strip at least 2x the width needed. glue that strip onto the router sled and then recut.
be aware - different saw blades have different kerf widths so presuming you've overcome the large distance issues, switching blades you will still encounter small differences sled-to-actual-kerf.

Try unscrewing the glides, reposition the sled to where you want it, mark the areas where the glide now need to be and screw them to the slide. Good luck.

Hi, I just got my crosscut this Friday love it but I find that the Adjustable stop is not working like it should.I find that if I but something against it and tighten it down it movie the ever so slight to the right which moves the peace I'm going to cut very annoying. Is Faulty or am I doing something wrong When I do tight it down its almost like it's not sitting flush and then jumps to sit flush if it makes sense ?

I recently added stabilizers to my saw blade which moved the kerf of the blade away from the sled by about 1/8". Anyone have any thoughts on re-zeroing? I think my only option is to move the miter track over about a half inch and recutting, but I wanted some feedback before I gave that a try.

BEST ANSWER: It will work with the miter slot but because the saw top is so small it is awkward and probably unsafe to use. I built an indeed table to rest my sled on. It is far from ideal. I also bought the smaller version from Rockler which is easier to use. That's fare for small pieces. I also have a larger Bosch job site saw and the sled is too big for that top top. If I were you I'd make a small crosscut sled or buy an Incra like miter gauge to use for cross cutting.

Can i use it on Bosch PTS10 Table Saw?
Davide G
on Mar 31, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Probably. I answer that way because there is only one variable that would prevent it. I had a table saw that had non-standard width groves for the miter gage. Since the CrossCut Sled comes with a standard width bar to fit into that slot, it may or may not fit into a non-standard width slot. Since all the other variables such as distance of the slot from the blade and the cut position on the table are all accounted for during the setup process, the sled will work with almost every table saw available. with the plastic strips it slides very easily on saw. the magnifier on angle guage is very nice to have. the locking tab to hold work makes it safer to use on small pieces. the locking tab allows for more accurate cuts.

Cross Cut Sled
Bought this for a stair retread project and am not disappointed. Using it on a Ridgid R4512 and it fits almost perfectly...there is a tiny bit of play in the track but it's easily taken care of by applying a little pressure when sawing. The cuts have come out perfect so far and it even allows a little bit of negative angle when needed.

Great Tool
I am relatively new to table saw use, and an experienced friend recommended this cross cut sled. Great advice, as I have used it a lot for many different projects. I love the ability to dial to the correct angle cut, which I could not have done with a homemade sled. Needs to be paired with the outflow sled so you have an even cutting service.

After receiving the sled and following the set up instructions, the sled performs perfectly and is extremely accurate. I did, however, add a tape measure to the top edge of the guide fence and by sliding the fence out to the very right edge of the sled I can make very accurate repetitive cuts.

very handy; a couple of suggestions
I just started using this and in general am very pleased so far. A couple of suggestions:
1) On my table saw (Bosch 4100) the sled's miter bar was loose in the track, enough to allow the sled to pivot. I tried messing with the tension of the ball bearings on the bar to no avail. Instead I cut a couple of strips off the low-friction tap included with the saw and used those to narrow the miter track.
2) The included directions show the use of a combination square against the saw blade face to check the fence for square. I found this wasn't very effective; the square is too small to really get it square. Instead I used a framing square (16" by 24") and it was much more effective. The only thing you need to watch is that the square is either not touching any saw blade teeth, or that it is touching teeth on both sides of the blade (that was the case for me, I have a fine-toothed blade so it was difficult to avoid teeth).

Excellent
It is the most accurate and the most easy setup of any I've seen.
We are on our second one. When we changed table saws the first one would not fit so we needed another sled.
After reviewing several alternatives, we decided this one was still the best one available.

Great choice
I've built crosscut and miter sleds over the years, but after completely rebuilding and re-aligning my tablesaw I opted for this one and it's worked out very well. Once it's set and trued cuts are clean and accurate, also the adjustable fence and clamp add flexibility and quick set up. My only misgiving is having the platform made of MDF but with careful use it should last--I'll report back in a few months. Overall, a great product.

Awesome Sled
I use this all the time and make my teen age some use it. The protractor is a little off but my digital angle guage fixes that. Make sure to get the drop off board, I used it without and have had a couple boards get caught on the blade and fly away like a Frisbee not good. I would recommend to any one its a must have and you can't beat the value.

I just started doing wood working and found this item to be immensely helpful with my confidence and the accuracy of my cuts. The adjustable stop on the fence is very helpful for repeatability. When I first unboxed the item I thought I was going to have to send it back because it didn't fit on my table saw. After reading more closely I learned that you run the sled through the saw once to make it a custom fit zero clearance sled. So far I could not be more happy with my purchase.

Update 3 years later...
I appreciate this jig more every time I use it. A little more information is in order about "perfect" setup. Get your blade aligned with the fence before doing anything else. The blade should be as parallel to the miter slot as possible. Once that is done, move the jig's fence to line up with the front of the blade and place a large draftsman's square against the saw blade, not touching the teeth. Slide the jig forward a bit and align the jig's fence with the edge of the sqare. Once you have a perfect 90 degree alignment, lock down the fence and loosen the transparent plastic indicator on the jig and align the indicator line with the zero mark. This process will assure that any angle you cut will be as near perfect as possible. Put a flat shelf near your table saw with a couple of pieces of MDF on it to give the miter bar space while the MDF supports the jig's table. This will help keep it flat over the years. It will also keep it handy because once you learn how accurate this gadget is, you'll be using it frequently. You can also add a sacrificial board behind the work piece to stop tear out. Read the instructions thoroughly before you cut it to size on your saw. And consider also buying the drop off sled as well. It really helps make a clean cut.

Great product...been using it for most of a year. Very accurate, solidly built. I've been building a large tool chest for my garage, and built a shelf just to hold this for easy removal later. If you are considering buying, this is an excellent upgrade to a table saw.

I really like this sled. Maybe not as robust as a home made unit, but the flexibility is tremendous. The ability to control the cutting angle within a fraction of a degree is terrific. Got it on sale with the drop off platform, so it was a very good value. Really appreciate being able ot cut a concise angle

I bought this instead of building a cross cut sled because I was in a time crunch. I have to say that all of the good reviews were spot on! It comes out of the box mostly assembled and with a little of adjustment you're ready to go. I used a scrap piece of 14 x14 plywood and did the 5 cut method to dial in the zero degree position, it repeats very well. I'm glad I bought it but I will still build the sled for other uses.

Was a bit skeptical about ordering the sled for my Bosch 4100 portable table saw but I'm glad I did. Works like a charm as long as you purchase the left stock support from Bosch for this saw. Item arrived in perfect condition and could not of been happier. Well worth the money!

Just like most of the products...
Just like most of the products I purchase from Rockler, "Out of the box & into service." Very little setup required except to zero out the miter. Took all of about 1 minute before cutting my first piece. Also bought the "drop-off platform." Definitely a must have. Saves on tearout and kickback. If you don't have this Rockler Crosscut Sled, bite the bullet and buy it. You won't regret it.

The setup was easy. Out of the box a couple tweaks and into action. Love the miter feature. All in all a fantastic buy. Only complaint, took what seemed like forever to ship it. /p>
