Some of my bits won't fit through the router base i currently have. I tried to use a large rollover bit and discovered I couldn't do it other than on my router table. The wood was too large to handle, however, so I settled for a smaller diameter. These two bases should solve the problem in the future.

Router bases
Bases fit both my Porter cable routers...I was pleasantly surprised. I have a PC router that is at least 25 years old and had a home made base on it...

Fits my Porter-Cable 890 Router perfectly
I accidentally dropped my router and the old base plate was "crack city". This base plate works great for over-sized bits and I like that it comes with three machine screws that fit perfectly in the router housing. Very smooth and polished. A good product.

Threw this on my Porter Cable...
Threw this on my Porter Cable to do sign routing. The standard black base doesn't allow you to see the outlines of the fonts, where the clear base allows a bigger view of the outlines. Combined with a fore head light to brighten the bit and it worked great. Counter sunk screw holes in the base makes a perfectly flush bottom.

Just what I wanted, like the...
Just what I wanted, like the clear see-thru base and quality material. It fits my PC 890 perfectly. I have an old Craftsman Dovetail Template that has/requires a custom guide .4 inch. I used drill press to drill holes in this base to mount the custom Craftsman guide. It lines up best if you put the dovetail bit in the router and then mark the base for screw holes.

I bought the 1-1/8 plate (88932) which is required for the bushings used in the Porter Cable dovetail jig. The plate fit well and works well. I agree with Mark Noll's review that the original plate has a very large opening. I plan on using this 1-1/8 plate for all but my largest bits.

I ordered two of these with...
I ordered two of these with different size appeture holes and I'm totally happy with the items. They mounted perfectly on my model 690 and the screws recessed as they should. It even came with a set of screws. The Model 690 P/G router has bad visibilty, no light like other units, and with the factory plate, it was very hard to see what you were doing. With these clear plates it made the job of hand routering much more relaxed as you can see your work. Totally recoomend these to anyone that has the Model 690.

I recently purchased a Porter Cable 892 router. The base has a large diameter opening, so if you have one and want to use template bushings, you'll need one of these. The hole pattern is the same as the 690, so it is a perfect fit.

Clear Router base
I wanted a good see thru router base this one is solid and
precise, the only draw back it doesn't have the groove for the template guide like the black base.

It worked well enough, but it would have been nice if the mounting holes were countersunk so that the screws from my router could sit flat against the base. I modified it and it works now, but I'm trying the Porter Cable replacement to see if it's better.
