Correctable but Annoying Flaws

Says it fits most popular routers so I was surprised I had to drill holes to fit my Bosch 1617 (plunge base). Takes considerable care and time to locate and drill plate so it would be positioned on exact center of router base. Also, 3 screws to install black plastic center plate were the wrong size. Should be 6-32 flat heads but screws supplied were 8-32.

This solved several shortcomings of my fixed base router a Milwaukee. With the whirlwind port the dust collection is infinitely better, I love the edge guide, and it is far more stable than the factory base. Base fits perfectly. Simple and effective.

It is a nice idea, but the insert doesn't sit flush with the baseplate out of the box. Also, for edge work you don't get a flat edge all the way across. There is a circular divot taken out of it so depending on what you are doing it can throw you off course. I'm new to routing, but I replaced the edge guide piece with a self-made piece of wood and it workded great. Not sure it's worth the money but I was in a bind and couldn't wait to get the Dewalt edge guide shipped to me.

The plate did not fit on the base of my Bosch 1600 series router as it looked in the picture. So I am not sure that it is on there correctly. It works okay.

I'm using this with a Dewalt 618 - fits perfectly. This solves several of my problems: First, it allows for various inserts for larger edge bits . Second, it is a much more stable platform for handheld edge routing and the addition of the extra handle is excellent. Finally, it's a edge guide, which I don't use very often, but now at least I have one. My primary router is still mounted in the router table and I leave this set up for handheld use.My only negative is that Inter-Loc inserts require three tiny screws to secure the insert. I much prefer a twist and lock style insert.
