Does this product have to be used with a vacuum system?
Dan S
on Sep 26, 2015
BEST ANSWER: No vacuum was needed, I was able to stabilize an Australian burl into thin sheets of material with multiple applications of the product and allowing it to dry under weight in a stack to keep it flat. It worked great.

A vacuum system would maximize the efficacy of this product, but it is not needed for the product to be effective. If you submerge the piece in juice and keep in a Ziploc bag, it should get the results you need.

how much Wood Juice do I have to put on to treat the wood? Im making benches out of freshly cut tree logs. Do I just paint it on to coat the top?

BEST ANSWER: Hi. Im no expert but in my opinion i don't think this would be good for a large project. I used it to soak some already dried knife scale material. Maybe research the product called pentacryl , I believe it's for freshly cut green wood and says it can be brushed on to help avoid checks and splits. I hope this helps.

Instructions are suggested on the label... coat the entire wood, wrap the entire wood in plastic, wait the suggested time and then reapply the wood juice and the plastic and check your results....

If you read the instructions on the label, you should paint all sides of the wood with wood juice and then rap the total wood piece in plastic as per instructions

I purchase the wood juice from rocker used it on wood that was over a couple years old.
I put it on with a brush then put it in a plastic bag in a dry area.and left it until dry. I put three coats on the wood.then a couple of coats of Varathane. Hope this help. I found this wood juice to work very well just go by instructions.

I made some tabletops out of a large Oak tree, three foot+. I used Peg 100 with pretty good results. As I understand the labels Peg 100 would be #1 choice.

We have bought a walnut slab dining table that has been drying for a year. It look amazing! I'm pretty sure they never treated it with any products. The top has a matte finish poly on it, the underneath is still raw wood. I thought about flipping the table over and brush on wood juice but I'm worried it will soak through to the poly finish and then I would have to end up sanding the top down and redoing the top... And I don't want to do that. Should I leave it alone or can I apply wood juice to the bottom without interfering with the top of the table?

After rushing a distressed look dining room table out I made for my daughter from cherry boards that I cut with a chainsaw mill and were dried two years in my shed, I was disappointed that the table still warped some and shrunk and separated at joints. I started using the wood juice on all projects including two bathroom vanities from oak and cherry and a desk table top out of maple. All the wood was milled myself and and the shrinking, splitting, warping and separation was ended. I will not finish another project without using wood juice. The delay is no more than a week for drying before a finish can be applied. The finished product is well worth the money and time spent.

wood juice purchased at Rockler
i'm new at the review section of using a product... i wouldn't have done it know, but the people at Rockler were very helpful in providing assistance. So far the wood juice has enhanced the wood texture and grain...i have two projects on which i am experimenting to see the total effect of the product. i could not finish either project in time for this review, but as i continue to work, i'll comment on my progress.... i just had surgery, which stopped all...

very good product
I have used Wood Juice for a year or more and like the results. I soak my slapped pen blanks for about 24 hours and let dry for a couple of weeks or more till they are dry. Better penetration and drying is accomplished by drilling the blanks before soaking.
