Overview

These classic Wooden Cam Clamps are fast-acting, lightweight, and provide the perfect amount of localized pressure for a variety of clamping tasks: moldings, decorative elements, face frames on shallow cabinets and more. With their non-marring cork pads, they also make great hold-downs for your workbench, and their speedy action and light handling make them well-suited for use with jigs and fixtures. Just slide the jaws shut and flip the cam lever to apply pressure.

  • These hardwood cam clamps open to 8-1/4" inches.
  • The jaw depth (distance from the clamp pad to the bar) is 4-1/4" (40929) or 7-1/2" (40933).
  • Carefully crafted from solid beech hardwood, and riveted for durability.
  • Clamp pads are tipped with cork to prevent marring.

I picked up some of these...

Guest from Denver, CO Posted August 31, 2013
I picked up some of these at Rockler the weekend I learned they were available. I had been saving up for a stack of the ones that the luthier supply companies sell for $18 a piece (some made in USA and some Germany), and was relieved to find them at a great price at Rockler. I only bought the 4" throats as I had already invested in the 8", so this review doesn't necessarily apply to the 8". I have a few complaints but that doesn't mean they're not a good product and a great value. (1)These certainly work well, but they are not as high of quality of the ones made in Dubuque, Iowa (it's my understanding that the ones sold elsewhere come mostly from the same place [there are some German ones available but I've never tried them]). At the store, about 1 out of 10 had a slightly bent bar, and the head didn't slide smoothly (or at all-I left these on the rack). (2) These use a natural cork pad that is not as durable as the rubberized cork used on the domestic ones. The natural cork doesn't have shear strength and flakes when abraded. (3) A final minor quibble would be the price label on the bar which impedes the clamp head and requires a razor blade, and solvent, to remove. Otherwise, these are made of beech, the others are made of maple-I don't have a preference here, the beech is is softer but imo it is has a better look and feel. These look to be chamfered by hand and don't look as refined as the domestic clamps. Overall, these are a great bargain and might be available locally (they were for me) which beats having to wait for shipping (or availability).
