1/2'' Baltic Birch Plywood

Our 1/2'' thick baltic birch plywood features quality one-piece plies for exceptional strength and screw holding power.

Item #
88% of 100

Each sheet of our 1/2'' Baltic Birch Plywood is constructed from high-quality, one-piece birch laminations for exceptional strength and screw holding power. The density of the plies (40% more plies than standard plywood) results in excellent stability, while the increased thickness of the face plies means far more resistance to sand-through. All-birch cores have little to no voids—sand the edges for a nice, finished look. Faces may contain some matched plugs, and one face is light and even in color for an attractive finished face. Available here in several sizes and quantities. See our other offers for different thicknesses (1/8'', 1/4'', 1/2'' and 3/4''). All dimensions are nominal and may be slightly undersized.

Grade BB/BB: Both faces are relatively "void free" but may contain small patches and a slight knot pattern or mineral streaks. One face is light and even in color. Open knots and defects in a BB face veneer have been removed and replaced with small uniform ''football'' patches before being glued. The end result is a strong plywood that is attractive enough to be used on a variety of projects.

Not 1/2" and 3/4"
I ordered these for a crosscut sled that listed them in the material list. On receipt I did not check thickness before cutting the the pieces-duh! When assembling, some things did not fit precisely and I discovered that this plywood is 1/32" less than 1/2" and 3/4".For example, I have L-profile Kreg t-track top-mounted on a 3/4" main fence. The plan also calls for a 1/8" dado cut in the base which leaves only 3/32" Threaded inserts just avoid punching through on the opposite side of the fence. I'm having to alter the assembly in the hope that adjustments will be successful. 3 stars for now and disappointed..

Woodworking Experience:
I purchased the "6-Pack" of 1/2" Baltic Birch Ply. "Faces may contain some matched plugs" indeed. These are 24" x 30" boards.
One piece was patch free, the remaining five had at least one patch on each side near the center of the board, & one side had four patches within a 9" radius, all in the center of the board. Junk. Attached is a .jpg of my favorite board. I needed all of this material for my project. a waste of money...

I use the Rockler Router Table Box Joint Jig. I am planning on using 1/2'' Baltic Birch plywood sheets to make some drawers for which all four sides will be joined using box joints.
Given that the Baltic Birch plywood is not quite 1/2", will this work with my router table box joint jig? What problems might I encounter? Any tips on how I should proceed?
Thank you.

BEST ANSWER: You basically have two choices: you can buy undersized plywood bits, designed for undersized plywood. The other choice is to use a smaller than 1/2 in bit, and make two passes, using a jig to ensure the dado is the correct width.
I need 2 pieces 24”X24”X 1/2” Baltic Birch plywood
Patch free one side.....?

BEST ANSWER: It’s possible, but most sheets I purchased had multiple patches on both sides. If you could look through the sheets or request from Rockler would be my suggestion.
