If you're looking for a workhorse router bit for your workshop, look no further than this 1/8" Double Flute Straight Bit!

Overview

This versatile cutter does a staggering amount of work. It can rout dadoes and rabbets, cut grooves for inlays, rout mortises (both for hinges and tenons), flatten or shape panels, rout specially shaped holes and cleanly cut round holes, and shape and duplicate parts with a template. Plus, you'll get a lot of life out of it. It's manufactured using the finest grade K20 tungsten carbide, which is silver brass welded for the strongest possible bone. We use a 600 grit diamond wheel on the final sharpening to produce the sharpest possible edge for a clean cut and long life.

I love them!

I use these bits a lot and they have a tendency to break a lot. They are a thin bit and works well with soft wood. If you are using the bit in hard wood I would recommend making several passes at a short depth and a slower feed speed. The best thing about Rockler is their bits are guaranteed and are very good about replacing them. I also find that their bits hold a sharper cutting edge then most competitors.

I used these bits in a couple projects that I had going on. The first bit worked well, when used on soft poplar, and pine, but broke instantly when I tried to use it on a piece of African Padauk. I attributed this to having used it on the earlier project. However, the second bit was brand new and broke just inches further into the same cut. Both bits broke at the bit/shank junction, the actual cutting edges themselves never broke. Basically, these bits are fine for softwood, but don't even think about using them for anything dense, as they will fail instantly.Editor's note: Our customer service team at 800-376-7856 will be able to replace under warranty.
