One of the best items Rockler has to offer.
This item is high quality and compact allowing you to mount it almost anywhere. It uses 12 ga wire so it does not get hot under normal loads for a 15 amp circuit. On sale it is the best price I found for a 12 ga real.

Just replace it.
Is this unit get hard-wired into a box, or simply plugged into a receptacle?
A shopper on Apr 24, 2015
BEST ANSWER: It plugs into a receptacle. The picture doesn't show it but the unit has a male plug on its short cord.

Is there a circuit breaker and a reset button ?
art c on Dec 29, 2016
BEST ANSWER: No, but it is a nice unit.
So it says 15 amps. Say I have it wired to a 15 amp breaker, does this mean I can’t run anything else off that breaker or could I also run other receptacles?
Justin B on Oct 20, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Most newer homes are wired with 12 ga. wiring with ground for 110/120 volts, and would be hooked into a 20A breaker at the main, or sub, panel. This cord is 12 ga., which is the same as the typical house receptacle wiring, and can handle the same load as the receptacle, or electrical junction box, it is hooked into. The issue is not with the wire ga., but with the load placed upon the cord. If the cord is overloaded, then the breaker is overloaded. If the breaker is overloaded, it will trip, which tells you that you have too much load on the circuit at the same time. Simply reduce the load on the cord/circuit by checking the amperage loads of the tools or equipment you are using, and, if necessary, place one item on a different circuit receptacle.
Can i get a cut sheet?
mike y on Aug 9, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I am assuming you are using the advertising term of cut sheet. the web page is probably the closest you will get. My experience with the cord reel has been very positive. it is functioning as advertised.
can this be bought with plus reversed ???????
A shopper on Jul 9, 2015
BEST ANSWER: No it cannot. This has been a good reel and the fact that it is 12 ga. wire makes a lot of difference.
How long is the extension cord inside the reel?
Jeff D on Nov 4, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Cord is 30’, though you will likely only have about 28 usable feet. The pigtail that comes out of the housing to plug into the wall is just shy of 3’. The housing is just under 11” in diameter.
How longis this ext cord?
Bill J on May 27, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Bill, the length is listed in the "Overview" underneath the photos. It's 30 feet long. I highly recommend this product.
I have pulled the cord all the way out and now I cannot reel it back in! How do I get it back in?
Ted S on Mar 4, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I have done this a few times as well, but it's a fairly easy fix.

I used two long screw drivers to 'walk' it back against the tension of the spring. The first screw driver, I placed against the edge of the window on the inner plastic wheel (there the cord comes out) and pushed it back against the tension as far as the screw driver would allow. Then holding it there, I used the second screw driver and placed it against one of the ribs on the plastic wheel (for grip) and forced that back against the the tension as well. You'll get to a point where it releases the tension and will start to wind back on it's own, you'll feel it release.

You may have to repeat the process 2-3 times, depending on the length of your screw driver, but it worked for me. Hope this helps!
Is this 120/240 able? Standard plugs and receptacles for 220 here.

Does it have a re setable overload ?
Harry P on May 6, 2018
BEST ANSWER: The retractable reel does not have a resetable overload, however our power source where the reel plugs into is a gfi in our garage.

Katie H on Jul 12, 2017

Can the click/stop feature be disabled so that there is always tension on the cord?
C. K on Apr 21, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Can't answer the question. I installed the unit on the ceiling of my garage. When I set up my shop, the extension cord functions as designed. Sorry!
Will I be able to modify this cord for 240 VAC for my 14 amp table saw (protected with a 20 amp breaker) without voiding the waranty?
Ben D on Apr 16, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I really doubt this. You will have to cut the existing outlet which will void your warranty.
WHAT IS SIZE AND WEIGHT OF UNIT?
Ken C on Jul 1, 2015
BEST ANSWER: about 12 inches in diameter, tech details say 12.5 pounds, sounds about right, I have mine attached to stud just like in the photo,
I understand this is rated at 15 amps but can it be safely connected to a 20 amp breaker if I am running standard shop tools like a bandsaw or table saw, ?
Dana L on Dec 6, 2018
BEST ANSWER: You can connect it to a 20 amp service, but it will mean that the breaker is not providing as much protection to your cord reel or the tool. Essentially, you are responsible for not plugging in something that will draw more then 15 amps.
Is there a similar unit that is configured for 240V / 15Amp? I'd like to run 10 ga in conduit to ceiling L6/20 Twistlock (or similar receptacle) outlet for both jointer and planer I have. It would be perfect for me if there was one out there like that... The 12 ga. SO cord should be adequate for this, right? Spot for the two machines is in middle of 3 car garage is why I'm asking...
John B on Nov 24, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Yes there are. The question is how safe are the? I am not an electrican. You need to consider the cord lenght. Some
Machines, especially 240 volt machines tell you not to use extension cords.
The description of product says power cord is 36", That can't be correct. What is the extension length?
Larry F on Dec 6, 2017
BEST ANSWER: The power cord is 36 inches and the extension is 30 feet.
what are the dimensions of the reel ? Will it fit in a 2 1/2" wide by 11 " tall space ?
John H on Mar 5, 2017
BEST ANSWER: The cord reel works great, however, I don't think it will fit in the space you describe. The mounting bracket makes the unit about 14 inches tall. I think a minimum of 4 inches will be required as space for the width.
A sticker on the reel lists some safety directions for its use. One note says to "Pull the cord to full length before using". Is that is so that if you are drawing enough current through the cord to generate heat, that you do not want a hot cord to be coiled up tight in a metal container? And are there any other reasons?
John K on Dec 31, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Coiled cords can generate heat but also alter the voltage and amperage (look up how transformers work...magic). Pull it all the way out.
Where is this unit made?
A shopper on Aug 24, 2015
BEST ANSWER: This is made in Taiwan.
How long is the cord?
A shopper on Jul 15, 2015
