Based on Stanley's classic 750 Series chisel design, this 3/8" Stanley Sweetheart Socket Chisel offers the rugged durability of socket chisels along with a blade shape that provides precise cuts in corners. Socket chisels are less likely to break than tang chisels, but the socket design makes it very easy to replace the stock handle with one you've turned for a custom, comfortable grip. Measures 9" long. Honing recommended before use.

Features:
  • Socket-style handle is easily replaceable - use with your own custom turned handle or add a long handle for paring
  • Hornbeam handle provides a comfortable, well-balanced feel that transfers energy effectively when struck by a mallet
  • Large sweet spot for striking accuracy
  • English tool steel blade is made from high-carbon chrome steel and ideal for woodworkers
  • Sweetheart chisels sharpen easily and retain a razor-sharp edge over long periods of use
  • Side bevels are extra narrow for working in tight corners where precise cuts are critical

I own other Sweatheart tools and am generally pleased with them, however this chisel is a disappointment. The chisel is labeled and sold as '3/8' but is actually 10mm. This difference can be a big deal in woodworking. I'm going to try to machine it to .375. Also the handle is loose and easily comes off. It may have been designed that way but it's not to my liking. The steel sharpened nicely. Time will tell how it holds up.

I planned to use it on cleaning up the bottoms of 3/8" mortises but it is actually 10mm wide. Nice quality but wrong size. 9mm would be better.
