clean as a whistle
My schedule has been such that only yesterday -- a month after receiving the router bit -- did I have an opportunity to try it out on some pieces of teak. The cut was quiet and amazingly clean on the teak. Nothing to scrape out or wipe out. The pieces are all ready for the acetone and away we go!

My old one was so bad and out of balance. It would vibrate really bad. This new one is so smooth I thought there was something wrong. It cuts really smooth. Thanks a lot.

Perfect for the job
I needed to cut dados, into the sides of a toy box, to accommodate a plywood insert. I was able to dry assemble the box sides, cut the dado with the 3 wing router cutting bit on a router table, take apart the box sides and insert the plywood, which fit perfectly.

Narrow slit for thin material
The bit was used to glue two thin boards together using a hard maple spline. Worked out well so I had a solid joint.

I need a bit for a project that has a double curved member needing a slot to accept a raised panel. Because the member is double curved and the profile needs to be square, I could not use traditional door and panel bits.

I chose the Rockler over the Freud slot-cutting bit because the Freud bit had extra washers stacked up between the nut and the bearing which looked kind of hokey and led me to question the engineering of the bit. Also the plate on which the carbide teeth are attached is thicker on the Rockler which leads me to believe the Rockler will be less prone to flex or chatter under load.

I need to control the depth of cut to 1/4", how can I achieve this?
John L on Jun 3, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I used a router table to cut the slots. The fence can be adjusted to give you a 1/4" depth. Without a table you would have to adjust the bearing on the bit to give 1/4" exposure.
Does this slotting bit have to be used with a router table?
Jason S on Jun 12, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I used mine without a router table but you need to clamp a board below for the bearing to run against if you are using 3/4" stock.
For your 3/4' plastic T trim [table edge] we would use the 35166 router bit?
Harold R on Aug 29, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I used this bit for T trim. However, not all T-trim is the same. I'd suggest you find out what size slot is needed for your specific T trim before ordering a bit.
I'd like to use this bit (item 9175) to cut a groove about 1/8" deep in a rounded shape. To do this I need to use a larger diameter bearing. What is the bearing inner diameter and more to the point which bearing should I buy?
jim O on Sep 9, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I believe you left off one digit of the part number. I think it's 91750. The answer is yes you can put different size bearings on this cutter The cutter is. 1 7/8" diameter, so you would need a bearing with a
5/16" ID and an OD of 1 5/8".
Check eagleamerica under Replacement Bearings and it's part number 196-2610. The cost is $8.00. You may want to purchase several other bearings with a 5/16" I'd so you can cut different depths. I hope this answers your question
I need to achieve a 3/4" depth of cut. Will these bits work?
Ronn F on Apr 30, 2018
BEST ANSWER: No, this will only do a 1/2” depth cut
What is the depth of cut for item #91785? I need 1/2" from the bearing to the depth of cut.
Bob B on Dec 14, 2017
BEST ANSWER: With the bearing provided the depth of cut is 1/2 inch.
What RPM should I use with this bit?
Joe S on Apr 28, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Typically speed rates for router bits are as follows:
1" diameter at 24,000 rpm
1-1/4" to 2" diameter at 18,000 rpm
2-1/4" to 2-1/2" diameter at 16,000 rpm
3" to 3-1/2" diameter at 12,000 rpm
Adjustments can be made up or down in these rates to compensate for materials and feed rates.
