45 degree angle 4” dust collection fitting
I used it to angle the dust ejecter on my dewalt planer. With 2 extra 4 inch couplings, works perfect.

better air flow
Using the 45 degree 4" fitting for my miter dust collection system worked perfect. I noticed a big difference eliminating some 90 degree turns, and subbing 45 degree instead. Thanks Rockler.

Only one port to use
I needed attach two dust collector pipes into one opening on my 30 gal dust seperator. These fittings did the trick for me.
A 90 and a 45 deg to get two sections of pipe to go into one opening on a 30 gal dust seperator

One minor problem
I purchased this 4" angled dust collection piece to attach to the dust collection outlet on my DW 735 planer. As it comes from the factory, the DW 735 has a 4" dust collection outlet which points directly over the outfeed side of the planer. That direction causes the dust collection hose to be directly over the outfeed table and to tend to collapse down toward the table. It also blocks easy access to the piece coming out of the planer. It seemed to me that a 45 degree angle on the dust outlet would help keep the hose away from the outfeed table and would make access to the piece coming out of the planer easier. There is a bit of a problem, however. The planer outlet and this 45 degree elbow are of identical outside diameter, so they will not connect directly. My plan is to contact an HVAC parts dealer for a very short section of 4" inside diameter pipe to connect the outlet and this elbow. As of yet, I've found no such "connector."

What are the inner and outer diameters of both ends of the 4 inch 45 degree fitting?
Darrell F on Nov 18, 2016
will this attach to a metal blast gate and also the top of a supermax 19-38 sander or do I need 4 in ferncos?
Danielle F on Mar 10, 2016
BEST ANSWER: It is impossible to tell from the information you have provided. Remember that one cannot put a 4 inch accessory into a 4 inch gate or another 4 inch accessory. One of the two must be either larger or smaller than the other by at least 1/8 inch, i.e., 4 1/8 or 3 7/8 inch to mate with a 4" inch elbow. Unfortunately vacuum fittings are not referenced in a standard size by the plastics industry. "4 inch" may refer to the inside measurement or the outside measurement or may just be "about 4 inches." The best bet is to take what you wish to mate with to a Rockler store and try to fit it. I am guessing that you will need a "splice" fitting for this elbow - maybe two of them. But this is just a guess.
will these fit a metal blast gate
rick f on Mar 10, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Yes.
Will this elbow fit on a DW735 planer and then connect to the dust right handle?
Umpire.20 on Mar 8, 2016
BEST ANSWER: You will need a 4" connector between the DW745 planer and the elbow. I do not have the dust right handle so I cannot address that part of the question.
what kind of plastic are the 45's made of and are they glueable?
Gary on Dec 9, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Don't know the type of plastic, but it is hard and has been very durable. I suspect CA glue would hold it just fine, but have not tried gluing them at all. If that were necessary - other than for a repair - I'd use the metal ducting.
