I'm wondering how to install item 29741 door on a corner cabinet where normally a 45 degree concealed hinge would be installed?
Mario on May 13, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Sorry, I do not have the expertise to answer that question. Regards, Bill

how can i the homeowner get a 45 degree frame end cut that looks professional, not ragged? That is the key to whether the frames will look good or not.
Margaret U on Nov 10, 2015
BEST ANSWER: This material cuts easily with an electric miter saw, such as those made by Ryobi ($89) or DeWalt ($289). But you must by a carbide tipped blade with as many teeth as possible, the one that comes with the saw is for wood only. When cutting the aluminum, cut slowly through the material and the edge will be perfect. It is actually quite easy.
I'm thinking of using these as kitchen cabinet doors. I'd like to insert opaque glass in them. Has anyone done this? Did you get good results? Does Rockler sell the glass inserts also?
Carter on Mar 5, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Yes I have done this, i bought the glass at a separate shop after i cut the doors. I did not use tempered glass and have not had any problems. Mine are on a linen closet, for a kitchen consider adding an after market soft close. If the cost is high for the glass you can buy etching acid at a craft store. with contact paper and a razor blade can add design work into the etching. it takes practice and is sort of another project, but fun and super custom. adding your initials or vine work is possible.
How wide is the narrow frame?
C A K on Dec 7, 2018
BEST ANSWER: 23mm. The last image in the set of images for these frames shows all dimensions.
I am thinking of building some exterior bi-fold screen doors for my outdoor kitchen. Was thinking of using wood at first but changed my mind because of wood bowing over time with weathering. Would this material be suitable enough to build frames roughly 7.5 feet long by 3 feet wide?
Christopher W on May 29, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I used these for a 30"x48" kitchen cabinet door. Now, I am an amateur at this DIY stuff....but...I find that the corner joints struggle to keep the frame together under the weight of the glass insert. I have to re-tighten the corners every 3-4 months. So, they might work for that height if the frame's resting on the ground or if the insert is a light glass/plastic. But i'd pass if using a heavy glass sitting on hinges.
do these hafele self closing hinges that pair with the hafele alum cabinet door extrusions slam shut? I have a 2 inch
section of the extrusion in my hand with the hinge slid into it. It definitely snaps shut with a metallic strong click sound.
patrick d on Jul 1, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Good morning Patrick I bought the hinges and frames about 2 years ago. The weight of the doors mellow out the over center snap that you are experiencing. They do not have a soft close feature that I've seen, you should be able to find an after market soft close that you can install inside on the top or bottom. The doors operate very smooth for me and adjust easily. I fabricated mine with about 1/6th clear between them, because you cannot bevel the extruded aluminum, like you would a thinker wood door, a 1/16th is about right between the two doors. The tight fit creates a little bit of an air cushion which keep mine from slamming, felt or rubber sticky's may help too.
good luck,
brandon
Can you make doors w/ multiple panels using this material?
Michael P on Jan 24, 2019
BEST ANSWER: If I understand your question correctly, no. It is a one-sided extrusion that goes around the piece of glass - no provision for making a mullion that has glass on both sides.
The description above says...."and slide the hinges (Sold Separately) into the sides. No drilling required to attach hinges to frame!".....My question is this - You do not have a link to these hinges. I'd like to know what they look like.
John S on Mar 5, 2016
BEST ANSWER: They are in the "customers also bought" section under the frames. Just scroll down and they will be there. Also in description it will show you the hinges that work with that style frame.
I see that there are corner connectors are included with the hinges, but we don't want to buy hinges. We are building sliding doors and are buying the sliding hardware somewhere else. How do I buy just the corner connectors?
Dava G on Jan 8, 2016
BEST ANSWER: You can't. And you also can't use hinges other than the ones specific for these doors. The whole thing is a kit.
Do the corner connectors come with the extrusion or do they need to be ordered separately?
A shopper on May 25, 2015
BEST ANSWER: The corner connecters are packaged with the hinges
