The plan is very well done, with explicit and detailed listings of parts and the proper steps in constructing this grandfather clock. The design is also to my liking: simple, straight forward, and handsome.

This Grandfather clock finishes out at...
This Grandfather clock finishes out at seven feet tall, and is a beautiful piece. I built mine using ash lumber and English Chestnut stain, and many coats of polyurethane varnish. Once complete, I decided to take it another step and had the bottom door glass etched to coordinate with the design on the face of the clock itself. As an afterthought, we had our family name etched into the bottom of the door as well. This project is one I have long wanted to do, and although I put in many hours, now that it is complete, I have the satisfaction of having created a NEW family heirloom.

Impressive clock; instructions not so impressive.
I am at the intermediate level, and I have found the instructions for this clock a bit confusing. There needs to be more pictures, especially of the fully built clock.

Some of the dimensions could be a little clearer. I'm having quite alot of trouble finding a dial big enough to fit this clock.

Woodworking Experience:
Very disappointed
Very disappointed that resources for clock face, clock movement , clock hands, hinges ect. Were not included! Before ordering the plans I posted a question saying I wished to build a clock but wanted to use a quartz movement, can these plans be adapted to do this? Got no answer so I decided to order the plans. Should have realized no answer meant no answer!

Does the clock come with movements or do you have to buy it separately?
Erica M on Jul 31, 2019
BEST ANSWER: No you must purchase a movement from clock kit or another supplier of movements. See also New Yankee Workshop for an arts and crafts clock that Norm built
Where did you find your paper clock face, and the packing for holding the glass n place for the Arts and Crafts grandfather clock?
William B on Jul 9, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Our clock face is metal and ordered different lengths of hands. Several catalogs have these available. I put the glass against the frame, small spacer of wood to make room for the clock face & hands. Another small strip behind the wood with clock face to secure it. We used our local glass shop to cut the glass to fit.
I am looking for clock plans but want to use a Quartz Movement, is this plan adaptable to this? And what is the size of the clock face?
