The AutoRoute series of CNC machines from Axiom offers advanced features usually found only on machines in industrial environments, but at consumer-friendly prices. The AutoRoute 8 Pro+ is the largest Pro model. With XYZ travel of 24'' x 48'' x 6'', and a powerful 3HP electro-spindle, it is a large signmaker's delight. A computer need not be attached to the CNC to operate it. Instead, simply transfer your file to the included handheld controller via USB. The RichAuto DSP B18 4-axis controller is an easy-to-use, robust controller with nearly a decade of proven results in demanding applications. It is more stable than a PC, and no updates are required. Every Axiom AutoRoute CNC machine also offers precision ball screws, prismatic guides, robust, rigid steel frames, and interlocking aluminum tables. In addition, the integrated MDF spoil boards promise exacting precision, as they can be milled flat for true perpendicularity with the spindle. Whether you're looking to upgrade your entry-level CNC, or you just want to start out with a machine that promises top-quality results and ease of use, you're sure to be pleased with the AutoRoute series from Axiom.

Great machine
I bought the Axiom pro 8 in July of 18. Customer service from Axiom is excellent. My water pump reservoir developed a leak and they immediately sent me a new pump assembly.
This thing is very precise. I have used it to make modified dovetail for drawers to custom signs and plaques. I have milled aluminum and if you have the right bits, no issues. The water cooled spindle is very quiet. A lot quieter than my Bosh. The over head gantry does not flex or give. This is what sold me on the unit. Some of the "less expensive" offerings that can be bought here and else where has a lot of flex. I did not buy the table, I built my own out of 4x4 cedar posts, it does not flex or give. This machine is very heavy, you will need a friend or two in order to unbox it and set it in position. I recommend that you buy the expensive designing software, I bought Aspire. The reason why I'm stating this is, the machine can do whatever you throw at it, but you have to have the software to drive it. Save up and get the Aspire software, its well worth the 2K. I bought the laser along with it, it is awesome. I have had a lot of fun with this machine.

Has anyone machined brass or bronze material with the Axiom AutoRoute 8 Pro CNC? I am looking to machine a brass concave circular shell that is about 6" to 8" in diameter, one inch deep and maybe 1/16" to 1/8" thick shell. Anyone had experience with something like this on this machine?

What is the life expectancy of the spindle if only cutting wood? I have used several foreign made spindles that are not good quality.
Troy S on Nov 30, 2015
BEST ANSWER: We have had no problems with the spindle on our Axiom Pro CNC, since we purchased it four months ago. We regularly cut acrylic solid surface material with it (a very hard substance) and, for us, the dust it produces is the major concern which, has occasionally affected the CNC's performance. But so far, apart from that, no other issues have come up. I would think that cutting wood, which is considerably softer than acrylic solid surface, should produce even less dust then our work produces and cause even fewer issues. As far as the life expectancy of the spindle goes I have no idea how long it will last, but again, so far, no problems have been related to it that we have observed. Sincerely hope this is helpful.
Does any Rockler have these Axiom CNC machines on display? I am interested in purchasing one, but I don't see one at my local store.

Is this capable of working with aluminum as well as wood??
Mark S on Aug 3, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Absolutely. All the bits I've bought are good for several materials including aluminum. All that changes are the feed rate and speeds.
I inadvertently cut through one of my aluminum clamps and the cut was flawless!
Axiom is more expensive than similar Shark units, and does not include software. Is self-contained spindle cooler, 1/2" collet and better component quality worth the additional cost?
Holland W on Jan 8, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Without a doubt. The 1/2 collet and 1/4 collet gives you versatility to use a large variety of bits including the majority of the bits large industrial sized machines use. The self contained spindle cooler keeps spindle cool and reduces likelihood of damage. Axiom also has excellent customer service!
Is the CNC compatible with any G-Code generating software (i.e. Mastercam or AutoCAD Fusion)?
Ray L on Aug 4, 2017
BEST ANSWER: The machine uses a pretty generic G-Code. You will have to check with Mastercam or AutoCAD fusion to see if they have a post processor that will work for the machine. The VCarve-pro software we purchased with the machine already had a post processor that worked for our machine.
is this Axiom machine compatible with Aspire software?
