Bench Dog® Aluminum Router Plates

Machined from a solid sheet of 1/4'' aluminum for flatness, precision and an indefinite lifespan.
Item #

Easily lift your router out and set it on the table for comfortable bit changes, height adjustments and maintenance. No more stooping and squinting as you work under the table! Bench Dog's 1/4'' thick aluminum router plates all measure 8-1/4'' x 11-3/4''—the exact size of the plate opening in Bench Dog and Rockler router tables. Of course, they make an excellent choice for your custom router tables as well. The plates are available with four different mounting-hole configurations so the most popular routers on the market will fit without the need to drill holes. Additional insert ring sizes are available (sold separately). Plates A & B accept Standard sized rings. Plates C & D accept Large sized rings.

Which Router Plate Do I Need?
To choose a pre-drilled plate, find your router below.

Router Plate B:
  • Craftsman Standard
  • DeWalt DW621
  • DeWalt DW621K
  • Freud FT 1700E
  • Freud 1702VCEK

If your router is not listed: Choose from two non-drilled plates-one with a 4'' insert ring (#53425), and the other a 4-3/8'' insert ring (#56575)-and drill the plate to fit your router.

Notice: For customers making custom router tables, we recommend the Router Plate Leveling and Locking Hardware Pack (#22994, sold separately).

    Great with one little tweak
This is a nice upgrade for my Bench Dog ProTop router table. I wanted the ability to change router bits from above the table but the stock router plate only has a 2" opening, which is too small for my wrenches. This top has a 4" opening which is great, however you have to first remove the insert ring and I didn't want to hassle with constantly having to unscrew/screw it in. So I took the screws that attach the ring and instead screwed them into the holes in the base plate from the bottom side up, so that the ends of the screws are flush with the top of the base plate. Then I drilled out the holes in the ring and popped in some small rare earth magnets. Now the insert ring just snaps into place. I've attached a couple of pics in case my explanation doesn't make sense. Also if you have a 3d printer, there are some nice plans on Thingiverse for printing additional insert rings with different diameter openings.
Insert ring with rare earth magnets in the screw holes.
Screws mounted from under side of base plate.

I have a bench dog router wing with the phenolic insert. My problem is I cannot get it adjusted perfectly flat. One side is always too high and the other too low. The insert that came with the wing only has two screw holes in the corners besides the adjustable ones under. I have tried to adjust the insert with and without the router attached. Help!?
    Jack O on Apr 20, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I have a bench dog contractors router table and had a similar problem when I purchased the aluminum plate. I don't know of an easy way but you must work with the leveling screws under the plate in addition to the two in the corner. Get a good straight edge and work from one end to the other, be patient it just takes time. Then make sure you lock the underneath ones down with the locknut. The corner screws are mainly just to secure the plate don't do much in regard to leveling. Also compare the thickness of your existing plate with the new one that should give you a starting point. Just takes time and trial and error.

Why doesn't this plate have a pre-drilled hole to accommodate the above-table adjustment tool on Bosch routers?
    YzYnGy on Mar 12, 2020
BEST ANSWER: Easy fix. All you have to do is measure it out and drill the hole from the top side. Start off with a smaller bit so you can see where it lines up on the Allen adjusting Bolt. If it looks good drill it with the correct size bit. If it's not quite where you want it to be you can adjust the hole with the drill bit or a die grinder. Aluminum is very soft which makes it very easy to manipulate.

What is the secret to leveling this plate? I ordered the Rockler leveling and hold down kit. Try as I might I could not get the 8 leveling screws to truly level the plate with the table top. I seem to remember reading somewhere a suggested order to adjust the screws. I eventually ended up using only 4 leveling screws. Even that wasn't pefect

I have a raised panel bit with a diameter of 3 1/8". what is the opening diameter on the non-drilled plate Item # 56575?
    Miles B on Jan 22, 2019
BEST ANSWER: I bought item #53425 which has the "4 insert. The opening on it without the insert in it is 3 1/4". You are talking about item #56575 which has a "4 3/8" insert. The support flange for the insert on mine is 3/8" wide. I would guess that #56575 would have the same width flange, giving it an opening of 3 5/8". Just my best guess. Why doesn't Rockler print out these kinds of specs for us? I also had a hard time figuring out which plate to purchase.
