Perfect solution for plywood shop carts
I have used these on two mobile shop carts with 3/4 inch plywood panels serving as vertical supports for shelving. They are strong enough to eliminate the need for using a reinforced base at the bottom of the cart to provide stability. I have one tall storage cart that has the first shelf at 36’ from the base to allow another shop stand to nest in this space to consolidate floor space and use all the verticals space above the shop stand when not in use. The strength of vertical plywood panels can be fully utilized by installing the bracket with castors -without the need for additional reinforcement.
Storage cart allows smaller cart nesting below -to allow access to additional storage units.
Nesting cart maximizes use of shop floor. Drop down shelves on both sides expand work surface.
Two shelves of plywood, reinforced by 2x4 studs lock plywood sides true.

Rockler Bench Dog Caster
I built a 4 four times 2 foot stage platform that I stand or sit upon. Therefore, I bought the Rockler Bench Casters to attach to its four legs. I also purchased the mounting brackets that fit these casters but added longer bolts because legs are a two inches wide by four inches long. Because this platform is built with a very strong frame, legs and 3/4 plywood flooring, I found that Rockler had the only casters and mounts that would fit such a sturdy structure for me. Finally, these casters, for me, beat anything I saw in a store or on-line. If you are looking for good quality, strong casters that are easy to mount with the brackets (sold separately), I'd say, "look no further."

old architect drawing table
The width of the wood was unusual and these did the job perfectly. I just had to get a larger bolt.

Excellent product. Rock solid.
Great product. I had built a pigeon loft that has 2x4 legs and wanted to be able to move it around the yard on casters. I originally tried putting the casters directly into the wood and they just ripped out the first time I tried to move it. I installed these and now I can quickly and easily move it around with no problems. This provided a perfect solution. Easy to install. Rock solid- no bowing or flexing.

Work Great
I added the caster brackets to a stainless steel grill that I refurbished. The old casters could not be swapped out and had to be cut off the grill. These brackets attached the to legs and helped the grill to be portable again.

Worth their weight in GOLD!
I did research on exactly what I needed and asked questions here at Rockler. People swore up and down that these were what I needed and they were right. So I finally purchased these and wow they are awesome. I have a very heavy desk (300+Lbs). No problems at all. I coupled them with the POWERTEC 17201 3" TPR Swivel Dual Lock Caster Kit. I highly recommend these for any work bench or cabinet that you want to make mobile. The small holes are 1/4 inches, and the caster holes are 1/2 inches. My bench had a wide thickness to it and I'm sure they can go wider as long as you have the right size bolts to go with your size base.

Solid Hardware for a lectern in an elementary school.
They need to be able to take a beating and last a long time.
These were the only side mount caster brackets I could find after looking for three day that had everything I was looking for.

Thanks Rockler!

I want to put a new pine pantry up on casters but its "legs" are composed of the sides and front piece shaped to form legs so a normal stem caster would not work. With an L shaped metal cup on the front and a rectangular metal cup on the rear I hope to distribute the load without cracking or otherwise interfering with the structural integrity of the soft pine ( or at least I hope hope so anyway).

Considering using these for a 4” x. 4” legs on base of a cedar raised garden. Would they work going through the 4” cedar legs?
Sandra L on May 25, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Absolutely. I use them on a 6’x8’long privacy fence gate. I also drilled the legs of my new grill and installed better casters. These things seem to work on anything you can attach them to. Then you still get to choose the caster you want use. It’s a win/win.
what are the dimensions of the bracket? width? height? position of the two exterior holes on the bracket from bottom to top ? ie 1st hole 1/4 inch off the bottom, 2nd hole 3/4 inch off the bottom. That sort of thing
clyde p on May 10, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Bracket thickness where bolts go through is approx. 1/4". Bracket thickness where casters go through is 3/8". L-shaped bracket is 2-3/8" tall with the two bolt holes x 1-3/4" long with the caster hole and it has a lip that fits under the wood edge that is 1/4". The outside bracket is 2-3/8" high with two bolt holes and has a lip that fits under the wood edge that is 1/4". All bracket parts are 1-1/2"wide.
I have a heavy office table 300+ Lbs which I'm converting to a work bench. My side panels where I want to put these brackets are 1 1/4" thick. Can these brackets work with a longer bolt going through the brackets to support the side panels 1 1/4" thickness?
Scott C on Feb 10, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I have them attached through a 2x4 on a work bench that probably weighs close to that and they work fine. Just make sure you drill straight.
How much does this raise the height?
B J M on Feb 22, 2019
BEST ANSWER: The Bracket extends 1/16” below the legs. Add to that the size caster/wheel that you think is right for you and that’s you’re height above the ground.
I’ve used these on Large 8’x6’ wooden gates, put front wheels on my Grill, they take a heavy load and are adaptable to so many applications by adjusting the bolt size, and wheels/casters.
Can these caster brackets with 300 lbs rating per wheel support a workbench that approximately weighs 600 total lbs?
Wally on Jan 22, 2019
BEST ANSWER: The caster brackets are mounted on an approx. 150 LB chicken coop (fairly small for up to 6 chickens) and I attach the casters to the brackets to move the coop.
I can’t really answer your 600 LB question. Sorry.
Will these work on steel shop stands with angled legs?
Ritch J on Dec 11, 2017
BEST ANSWER: No, I don't think so, because they need to be perpendicular to the floor for the caster to rotate 360 degrees around. You might be able to cut a small wood block on an angle and bolt these to the legs using the wedges to cancel out the angle of your legs and it might work
Will these brackets work with Item #47034 Rockler Caster Set for Steel Shop Stands?
B J M on Feb 22, 2019
BEST ANSWER: They will work fine with a steel shop stand, but may require a this wood strip to make the thickness of the steel stand leg match the thickness expected by the caster brackets. Just be sure the steel leg rests on the bracket to which the caster is attached. I have used these brackets with the 47034 caster set several times and found them to be very satisfactory.
I want to add casters to my Gorilla Rack (made with vertical L beams. Would these brackets work for that?
Jill S on Jul 20, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I wouldn't see why not. I used these on four utility table legs that are 1" x 3.5" pieces of cabinet grade oak lumber. Works beautifully for my baking/cooking table in my kitchen. It did raise the height by almost 3" so I just took that much off the table legs. Hope this info helps.
Will this take a stem which is < 1/2" diameter, say 5/16" without instability?
