Rockler Bench Dog® 1/4'' Shelf Pin Jig

Produces level, wobble-free shelves every time.
Item #
46350
Rating:

Get level, wobble-free shelves, every time with the new Bench Dog Shelf Pin Jig. The jig is compact and portable, yet works with the tallest of cabinets. Just use the included index pin and self-centering drill bit to daisy-chain your shelf holes to whatever length desired. Can be used when the back and/or face frame are already installed, so it's ideal for pre-built or site-built cabinets. Features a fence along one edge for use on frameless cabinets and disassembled cabinet parts, while the opposite edge has no fence, and is butted up against the back of the cabinet or the lip of a face frame. Fence features a non-slip rubber material so the jig stays firmly in place while drilling, and onboard storage for the index pin and drill bit keep everything in one convenient place. The Bench Dog Shelf Pin Jig is ideal for 1/4'' shelf supports.

Rockler Bench Dog Shelf Jig
This is a great jig. Very simple and easy to use. I was able to drill out for an entire bedroom closet in less than an hour. (about 350 holes) The only thing to make this better would be a better quality drill bit included in the jig set. It lost it's edge only after a few dozen holes.

Great jig for occasional use.
I debated between this jig and the larger Rockler jig. I finally decided on this one because the price was better based on the amount of times i expected to use it. I am very pleased with the ease of use and the accuracy of the jig. The only drawback is the number of holes, requiring frequent moves on large projects. If you are only going to use this occasionally, go with this jig.

Amazing shelf pin jig
This is an incredible shelf pin jig. It's simple, elegant, and very useful. As long as your first hole in all 4 corners is good, then every hole will be good. Long gone are the days of painstakingly measuring out hole locations, drilling pilot holes, and having to worry about drilling too deep. This jig is incredible and I highly recommend it, especially at such a good price.

Almost foolproof.
Nothing to measure, everything automatically lined up as you move up and down, affordable; what’s not to like? Significantly reduced my drilling time. I recommend it and rate it 5 stars.

I am preparing to build some adjustable shelving. I have used metal standards in the past, but I want to try a different approach and this looks like a good idea.

needed a jig to fit in existing cabinet; some reviews mentioned the drill assembly came a part but thinking the set screw was not checked to see if it was tightened.

It looks like the most flexible jig for adding shelf pin holes to an existing face frame cabinet. The existing holes are on 64mm centers and I'd like to add new holes in between the existing ones to allow more flexible shelf placement.

5mm Pro Shelf Drilling Bit
5mm Pro Shelf Drilling Bit
BEST ANSWER: Since 5mm is about 1/5 of an inch, it will be slightly smaller than the 1/4 inch jig holes, therefore, the holes might not line up perfectly, but the difference should be slight, and I would suppose would make very little difference in the alignment of the pins once the holes are drilled.
Is there a 3/16 bit for this system?

BEST ANSWER: i do not think so their is a metric close to that size but not sure what it is.
What is the total length of jig?

How do you use if you want shelf pin 1/2 inch in from both edge rather than the 1&1/2 inches of jig? I have narrow cabinets for wife's nic/Nacs.
Douglas D on Mar 27, 2016
BEST ANSWER: The simplest way is to clamp a 1 inch board to the edge of the cabinet and use the jig as is.
