Bench Dog Tools® No. 62 and 60-1/2 Hand Planes

Bench Dog's No. 62 Low Angle Jack Plane features an adjustable mouth that can take both rough surfacing cuts and fine smoothing cuts. The blade has an effective angle of 37°, low enough to slice through difficult grain, including end grain. The blade is exceptionally thick for chatter-free planing. The block plane features an acute bedding angle and finely adjustable mouth opening—ideal for adjusting miters, joinery and fitting doors and drawers. The frog and base are a sturdy one-piece casting. Both planes have blades machined from thick steel for minimal chatter, and are precision ground for flatness. The fine grain castings are on par with many top-of-the-line planes. Each plane includes a case, sock and a Certificate of Inspection with measurements specific to your plane for sole flatness and blade hardness.

Features:

  • No. 62 jack plane is ideal for flattening, squaring, smoothing and shooting end grain
  • Block plane is ideal for trimming and adjusting miters, joinery and fitting doors and drawers
  • Easy depth-of-cut adjustment and lateral blade adjustment
  • Solid brass cap iron and threaded fittings for smooth action
  • Ductile cast iron body for superior strength and resistance to impact
  • Sole of plane and back of blade are flat to tight tolerances
  • Blade and sole are treated with a protective layer of oil
  • Certificate of Inspection included for each tool
  • Minimal setup and tuning required before use

Great tool.
Great tool. Cutting edge not as sharp as I would of liked it. After sharpening and rubbing it on a leather strip. It cuts even/ consistent shavings.

Why did you choose this?
Rockler Store
I chose these set of planes from Bench Dog Tools that from my standpoint of view as a novice woodworkerI I took the advice of the experts on youtube that these two planes are pretty much all you need plus a smoothing plane of a 4 or 4 1/2 in which the latter I've already have made by Woodriver. But first and foremost the sale price, the elegance and the quality of the craftsmanships of these products are very visible to me. Thank you for asking my opinion of why I chose these products.
