Bosch's ROS65VC-5 features an exclusive suspension system that minimizes vibration for excellent handling and comfort. It also features dual dust collection options to keep your lungs as comfortable as your hands: an onboard canister and a port for connection to a vacuum. The variable speed lets you dial in speeds from 5500-12000 OPM, and an integral pad dampening system helps prevent swirl marks on your projects. The sander accepts both 5" and 6"backing pads (6" not included), and includes a soft backing pad for sanding curved contours. Add to that multiple grip locations - the palm grip, rear handle andfront handle - and you have arguably one of the most comfortable orbital sanders on the market.

Features:
  • Exclusive suspension system for maximum comfort
  • Dual dust collection: a microfilter dust canister with integrated paper filter and screw-off cap or vacuum hose connection with airflow control
  • Variable speed from 5500-12000 OPM
  • Pad dampening system helps prevent swirl marks
  • Accepts 6"/ backing pads (6-hole) and 5" backing pads (8-hole)
  • Soft backing pad conforms to many contours
  • Multiple ergonomic grip locations to help prevent hand fatigue
  • Die-cast aluminum gear housing with exclusive dual-bearing pad mount eliminates wobble and vibration
  • High-performance Soft Microcellular Hook-&-Loop Backing Pad
  • Trigger switch with lock-on button

Orbital Sander
Nice feel, a little on the heavy side, but you can sand for a couple hours without your hands getting tired.

Great machine.
Great sander. Well balanced machine. Would be nice if front support knob was adjustable but overall design is very nice. Able to polish maple with 600 grit! No swirls what so ever.

No one makes a better sander
I restore wooden boats; rowboats, outboards, canoes. Prepping for paint and varnish requires a great deal of sanding. The sander performs beautifully on raw wood as well as between coats of finish. It works with great finesse.

Fantastic, definitely would like to have two of them.
Works way better then the Dewalt random orbital sanders that I have. A whole lot more comfortable and less fatigue. Works extremely well with a vacuum. The dust container probably gets 75%.

good, not great
I bought this rather expensive ROS to help eliminate dust in my shop. Unfortunately, it wasn't the perfect solution AND the unit failed in under a year in my busy hobbyist shop. I then upgraded to a substantially more expensive Festool ROS with HEPA shop vac, and wish I would have done that years ago. This Bosch 5" was an OK ROS, but the touted dust filter was not an improvement over much cheaper ROSs.

A center priced tool, disc sanders suffer from drops and abuse, high dollar sanders fail at about the same rate as the less expensive choices.

Why is this sander so expensive ? Copaired to the others for 49 to 59 $$?+

BEST ANSWER: If you pick this one up in one hand and one of the $59 in the other, you'll immediately feel the difference. It's heavier and it's a lot smoother operating. A cool feature is that you can put a 6" pad/disk on it. Like many other tools, the $59 is fine if you have one or two jobs and use it infrequently. But if you plan to use it a lot, you'll be glad you spent the extra $$$$.
