This package bundles the Bosch Colt PR20EVS Palm Router with the new Bosch PR011 Plunge Base for a duo that rivals much larger routers. The Colt palm router is already famous in its own right with big router features like a powerful 1-HP soft-start motor, Constant Response Circuitry for maintaining speed under load, and a convenient variable speed dial. The new Plunge Base adds to that extraordinarily smooth plunge action with easy, micro-fine depth adjustments, and a rotating 7-step turret-style depth stop. It also features a clear sub-base that provides excellent visibility, and a precision centering system that makes it easy to center the sub-base in relation to the bit when using jigs and templates. For those who already own a compatible palm router, the PR011 Plunge Base is also available separately (45145).

  • Compatible with Bosch PR20EVS and PR10E Colt™ Palm Router Motors
  • Smooth plunge action.

Fantastic purchase
I've had this router for over a year. It works wonderful. I use it more than my full size router. Fits in your hand nicely. It's easy to hold firmly against small edges. Bit changes are a breeze, the base pops off very quickly. I have a small router table I use this with, and it's a great pair. When you place it in the plunge base, it almost feels like a full size router. I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a trim router, and if something were to ever happen to mine, I would certainly buy again.

Great little router
I have a half dozen routers in my shop for various types of work. Over the years I've had a Porter Cable trim router (it worked fine) as well as a Dewalt trim router (I dislike the Dewalt). By far this Colt is the best. It fits the hand well, it is nicely balanced, it has great visibility. It stays in adjustment, there is no issue of the base creeping a little and changing the depth of cut. Plenty of power for the type of bits you use in a small router.

If you need a trim router, look no further. Save the time of all the studying, just buy this one.

Extremely Handy and Easily Adjustable
I bought this unit originally for my dovetail jig, to eliminate the bulk and awkward control of a full size router on the small jig surface. It has now become my router of choice almost any project. The only issue I have experienced is with the depth control; the fine adjustment screw rotates with the vibration and the flip latch does not sufficiently secure the main router body. A full rotation of this adjustment makes it too tight, so I've been inserting a piece of .oo3 shim stock at the closure.

Pricey for what it is, but works ok
Overall I like the router. The first time I used it it seemed to get really hot though. Also ,I bought the adapter for a letter template, but could not get it to work properly. I have now purchased another base for free hand letter routing and it works ok.

I needed a small router for smaller work, but wanted something versatile enough to do standard size dovetails and box joints. After reading a number of comparisons, I chose the Bosch. I am quite pleased with my purchase.

Can I buy just the Plunge base?
Richard G on Jan 19, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Yes, I believe you are looking for the Bosch PR011.
I have no experience using a router & have arthritis in both of my hands; I have a butchers block countertop that is 1 1/2" thick which needs an opening cut out for a farmhouse sink. I have had numerous estimates from various professionals in my area to cut the countertop to fit & for the sink opening which are all more expensive than the countertop actually was. I need recommendations for a router that I can handle, but also one that has enough juice to cut a 1 1/2" thick wood countertop as this is the only way I am ever going to get it installed; any suggestions?

BEST ANSWER: I would recommend cutting the opening with a saber saw and trimming with a router. Prepare a temp let with pressed board and trim with roller guide bit. I own one of these routers and it has plenty of power. Be careful of direction cut for smooth results.
